is keeping her last name after she is married.
My wife goes by my last name but legally has kept her original and for good reason.
There is no way in hell I want to jump through the hurdles of changing the name on all her accounts, documents and legal files. F THAT

Your husband just married you for your pug.

This argument is a feminism in the gaps argument. As a group younger women are doing better. And there are dozens of fields in which women dominate.
indeed, women kick mens asses up until age 30 and get paid significantly more
then, around this time, they decide to have children which obviously comes with career consequences

IMO the woman is basically saying "im not fully committed to this." just to be clear im talking in general, not at these two people specifically.
also IMO, i believe that when you (man or woman) gets married, the new family you just formed becomes your number one priority. when a woman keeps her last name after she gets married, i get the impression she's more committed to her old family (mommy and daddy) than the new family she just formed. just my opinion though i know the libs feel differently.
wow.
JW. Are you married?

Yeah to clarify from the post about my situation, for all social purposes she is Mrs. CorporateTiger. She has just legally kept her name for the reasons I listed before.
Any kids will get my name.

He barely tolerates my dog fwiw. Claims he isn't even considered a real dog
He also swears we will never have another pug once mine passes away. I'll let him keep believing that for now.

Who cares? As long as she's wearing that $300 ring I bought her, she's mine.

this is the OT, Pectus
if you don't spend 3 month's salary on the ring, you're not fully committed, and your wife will never change her name

No I'm not. But I do find it comical how he's losing his mind over the aspect of someone wanting to keep their name (professional reason or not). It's alot of "I think" talk and not much rational explanation. If you don't truly know the person you marrying and the fact they didn't take your name is a huge red flag. Then you probably have no business marrying them in the first place.
Also, someone using the term "beta" in 2016 should be the first red flag their opinion is terrible.

Socially she is "Mrs. crispyUGA", but she kept her last name for business reasons. We married relatively late, we both had established careers that we are very committed to, and we don't want kids. I have no problem with her keeping her last name. I don't care, but it sits uneasy with my parents and, actually, with some of her family. They're also uneasy about us not having kids, though.

A man marrying a woman who won't take his name or even who hyphenates (which is actually somehow worse to me) is literally no different than watching in the corner while She takes the BBC.

First, if they are having kids then it becomes an issue. People with hyphenated names is weird. If it was me then my kids will have my last name no question or bye.
Second, there are careers where the maiden name is used- lawyer, doctor, media, etc. BUT the marriage license states the married name as does all the banking, mortgage, etc documents. They just use the maiden name in their profession. No issue.
Last, I can't believe this is an issue at all these days. If a woman will not take her man's name after marriage then run. She will be a pain in the arse if THAT is a problem. Of all things.

Not married. Got it.
Sometimes people you think you know surprise you. Relationships are almost always wonderful at the start, and many people behave very differently once they get years into a relationship.
You should not sneer at something as symbolically important as this in a relationship. It isn't the cause of a difference so much as the first major opportunity for a man to see where he really falls in his bride to be's priority list. It does place her father's name above her husband's name in importance if she retains it and shuns her husband's.

If you use beta as an insult you probably secretly beat off to gay porn before beating your wife to relieve the guilt.
Posted on 11/30/16 at 10:48 am to Honky Lips
I've been married for going on 7 years, I never changed my name, but I do go by my husband's last night, just not on legal documents.

Yeah that looks nothing like him I promise

FWIW, young women are significantly outperforming men. Among people under 30 women earn more than men as a group. And they graduate from college at almost a 50% higher rater (58% versus 42% of high school and college graduates).
Not true. Women are oppressed, maligned, and screwed over all the time. I know this to be a fact - Hillary said it was so.
