It took my wife and I less than a week to get everything changed over. It wasn't particularly difficult, and we could have done it faster had we chosen to.

People in medical fields have professional licensing, multiple insurance panels, liability insurance, etc to change. In addition, you have a whole new history to create. I get why some professions don't change their names. As long as the kids will take the man's name and the wife is fine using the husband's name socially, who the hell cares?

ETA: It's a bitch just changing an address for these things, never the less a name. You have to provide all sorts of documentation in steps. Change legally, then change on your license, change on your bank accounts and business license. Then, once those are done, submit changes to the insurance companies you accept....it is a serious PITA

So, all it boils down to is that she thinks her family has a more prominent last name than your family does. Or, she's a doctor and has an established practice. The doctor thing is the only reason I think a woman should ever keep her last name.

Nope. I'm old school and if the wife wouldn't of taken my last name, all deals off. I think it would/should be a deal breaker all together.

I said I have no problem with it. But the process isn't all that hard, but again I fully understand why some would choose not to.

This is even trashier than fake Christmas trees.

I would never be involved with a girl who would even consider this.

It would take about a year to go through much of what I described above. I know you aren't stating issues with it. I am just offering more detail after having done some research. The insurance panel thing and the reputation are the biggest obstacles.

Goddamn geezer, is this what makes you mad these days? Who freaking cares? It's their names, let them keep whatever. A girl tells me she wants to keep her name, okay cool, end of discussion. It's a fricking name.

A Veterinarian? How many insurance panels (Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Tri Care, etc.) does she accept?

Roger would laugh in the face of any man who said he'd be ok with his wife keeping her name

Who's mad? What did I say to give you the impression I was mad? I specifically said I didn't give a shite what the couple does and that this was a discussion on what people thought about it.

Reading is hard.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that anyone who casually accuses others of being BBC cucks is a person who watches way too much BBC porn and is projecting

People on this board definitely spend too much time fixated on BBC. For some reason they bring it up in every thread where it is even tangentially related.

If your girl is gonna whore around behind your back, making her take your name isn't going to stop that.

No, just another form of male castration. Coming from someone who has gotten married in the past two weeks.

My wife joked and asked what if she wanted to keep her last name, and I told her she could if she wanted to stay single.

While I'm at it, the hyphenated last names annoy me. Cucks.

If wife is established professional then her name is part of her brand. Only insecure men would have issues

I got married in September. Wife still hasn't changed her last name. Don't really give a shite. Least of my worries since the flood.
