**UPDATE** So here's where we stand...

It really is only between Jimbo and Herman right now. I read a few posts that I thought were fishy... This is as of last night.
Jimbo is the first choice. Jimbo was offered close to 7M with the stipulation that he keeps Aranda (and whoever Aranda wants on his D staff). Jimbo's side countered for 7mil plus, claiming something about the taxes in LA, which LSU was prepared to compensate for, BUT he wanted complete control of his staff. LSU wants to keep Aranda badly, and while Jimbo's side is not saying he won't keep him, as a matter of principle, it should be the head coach's choice. LSU doesn't believe that he actually wants to move and is trying to raise his salary. This is irritating those calling the shots and causing some to want Herman.
The whole time talks are ongoing with Jimbo, talks are ongoing with Herman. LSU really wanted Jimbo, but Herman was the second choice. Some are preferring Herman to Jimbo, as they don't think he is playing LSU for a raise. Herman comes across as extremely intelligent, and his theories on an offensive approach in the SEC have caused LSU staff to get really excited. LSU apparently floated an offer similar to Jimbo's (close to 7 mil). He is totally open to keeping Aranda and defensive staff. His side didn't counter the salary, but the only thing he wanted was a more generous exit clause, which LSU is apparently okay with since they have money to keep him there. He apparently wants to see what the admin at Houston had to say before making a decision, because of the potential situation with Houston making a pitch to join the Big12. Without Herman, the admin knows it would further hurt their chances of joining the BIG12, and they are prepared to do whatever it takes to keep him there. However it does sound like Herman will go to LSU in the end of Jimbo didn't decide asap.
At this point, the door is closing on Jimbo fast, and even though Jimbo was their #1, LSU likes Herman and may make a move before Jimbo has a chance to make a decision or increase his salary either here or at FL ST.
I know that people like to play make believe on the internet, but if you have a friend that you can call directly who is in the know, you can sort through some of it. I'm not going to bother him for another update, because after talking with him, I think the decision will leak today before I will get a hold of him again.
Based on his sentiments, I think it will be Herman, unless Jimbo really wanted to leave and makes a fast decision... Like this morning. You don't have to believe me, and I know if I was reading this, I'd be skeptical too. I think it's 80% Herman and the 20% for Jimbo is if he makes a move right now. If not the Admin will be very happy to have Herman as the next head coach for a very long time.

I like this part. Hope it's accurate. Alleva needs to engage afterburners to get this done asap.

I thought Big 12 voted not to expand? If so, how can your point about UH joining be true? Makes me question the entire post. OR am I missing something?

All of your post is made up, and it's amazing people believe this nonsense.

They decided not to expand for now. Houston still has high high hopes of joining the big 12.

Herman was in Houston this AM.

UPDATE:
So I texted my buddy and asked him why the news had not leaked yet. He actually called me and said what a difference a day makes.
Apparently, Jimbo's rep (not Sexton in this instance) said something good enough this morning to make LSU wait a little longer for him to agree in full. He is still skeptical that Jimbo may be angling for a raise, but he said Jimbo was their #1 choice and that Jimbo was definitely going to come last year until LSU received pressure from the state to keep Miles. He said that he doesn't know why Jimbo would change his mind this year, but he said that he thinks Jimbo may be stalling a little to see what FSU might do. He said that Fisher IS willing to keep Aranda, but he wants it to appear that it was his (as head coach) decision to retain him. Whatever.
As for Herman, he said that it stinks, because he thinks that Herman WANTS to come to LSU. He said that he doesn't think that Herman wants to go to TX, because TX is a rebuild -LSU already has the pieces in place to lock and load recruits for title runs. I don't know if this was Herman's opinion or his, but he said the defense is there already, and even though the offense is not quite there, the recruits are there for success.
He said that Houston is already prepared to match and possible beat anything LSU throws at him, because they think keeping him is necessary for a BIG12 resume. I asked why Houston wants to keep him as a vehicle to get into the BIG12 when expansion was already voted down. He laughed and said, that the BIG12 "unanimous" vote was joke. He said that they are definitely going to expand, and they are waiting a year or two to see how their prospects perform in all of their sports before making a decision on who will come. Houston thinks that they will be tentative BIG12 members within two years. I don't know how much of this is fact or his speculation, so take it for what it's worth.
I prefer Herman, and I asked why are they waiting for Jimbo if Herman wants to come, and he said that Jimbo was always the first choice for several reasons. He said that he is familiar with scoring on SEC defenses and is proven in the SEC over multiple seasons. He is already familiar with recruiting in the state and has coached under Saban and Bowden. He has also shown that he can win a NC as head coach. Also, his track record with QB's speaks for itself.
I asked him who he thinks it will be, and he said that in light of recent events, probably Jimbo. I asked him when we would know something, and he thinks that it won't happen until Sunday, but that was a guess.
I asked him what happens if Jimbo or Herman fall through, and he said that he doesn't think it would happen. However, Fedora is next as well as someone else that no one is tracking. I asked him if it was Chip Kelly, and he laughed and said no, because he proved against LSU and Auburn that his offense does not guarantee success against SEC defenses. He didn't say who it was.
You can believe it or not. None of the people posting info are doing it under oath, just based on a friend's info or I guess to troll or spin everyone's wheels. I take everything people are saying with a grain of salt and read more for entertainment anyway.
