What's your price range? I have a lot of friends in the burbs that I like to hang out with but I'm single in my early 30s. Energy corridor is a good compromise for me. Lots to do in the area. Not too far from the heights, galleria etc. And I'm not too far from friends. If money is no issue, I'd def move to the Heights though.

Garden oaks, oak forest, and Shady acres are your best bets. Neighborhood bars and restaurants with no frills while also being close to downtown and the galleria. Mostly ranch style older homes and the three story "community" new builds in those areas.

Come on in, the water is fine!

Where will you be working? I work close to NASA so we went with the Pearland area, although League city is nice too.

The best advice was (as previously stated) to shop around close to where you will work. My family had enjoyed it so far.

In-town from where you work, so you're always against traffic.

Between beltway and loop: west of 45, north of 59.

If inside the loop: west of 288, west of 45.

...generally speaking

Even if you're over the bar scene...don't move to this city and avoid the more happening parts of town. You'll regret it and end up moving into the city sooner or later because all your friends live down here anyway.

The Montrose, Museum District, Rice Military, West U/Rice Village....The Heights or The GOOF....but I'm not a fan of either neighborhoods.

Assuming you're single, live inside the loop close to your work.

Some suggestions for the single folk and/or married with no kids

Rice Village
Washington
Upper Kirby
Museum District
The Heights
Montrose (if you like trolling for penis and such)

Welcome

Rent. Rent. Rent.

6 months. One year. During that time you can get settled and understand traffic. Places you know you don't want to be. 290 trying to drive in for instance.

Inside the beltway gets dicey. Goes from zero to turrible quickly.

Southeast side of town, erase from your mind. Unless all the way out to clear lake.

I would suggest heights. Close to parks and highways.

You can get away with not being I tot he bar scene there without sacrificing distance.

If you are okay with paying more I would suggest museum district

It's not so bad here unless you're like 30 and not into the bar scene

This too..?

shite, if you're that guy move out to the burbs. It is Houston. A 45 minute commute is just something you get used to. For EVERYTHING!!!

Agreed. Have always lived in the burbs and recently purchased a new house even a little further north towards tomball. I am used to the drive now when I decide to go out with my friends who live in the heights and midtown.
