Were there any points when you wanted to transfer back or to another school OOS? I'm not to that point or anything but it sucks not knowing a ton of people.

Never regretted it one bit. Sounds like you have no friends

If you're at Ole Miss I had a friend go there for 1 year after growing up in LA and going to LSU games his whole life. He transferred to LSU and never looked back.

Going to LSU from Chicago was pretty tough. I was immature at the time and almost went back home a few times, but I'm glad I stuck it out.

I think everyone feels some of that at various times no matter where you go to school.

You need to join an organization. Student newspaper or radio station, Newman Club/BSU/whatever, intramural or club sports team, ethnic interest club, etc. That's the only way you'll get to know people.

Transfers to out of state school where he doesn't know anybody. Is disappointed when he's lonely.
It's like you didn't even think about this predictable outcome.

I transfered out of state and eventually moved back, but that was the gf's idea to move, not mine.
I enjoyed being away from home, but I also generally don't like people so I prefer being alone.

Thought about it cus my grades were shitty freshman year, but I just needed to man up and I stuck it out.

Nope, leaving BR and going to ole miss was one of the best decisions I ever made. LSU is like highschool all over again for locals

I'm a BR native and huge LSU fan and went to Ole Miss.
I loved leaving home and Ole Miss was fun as shite. Just make friends.

why go to out of state school if you want to be around a bunch of people from your home town?

I basically knew no one coming to LSU. 12 years from first setting foot on campus, most people now think I was born and raised in BR...
The two things that helped me out the most were living on campus freshman and sophomore year, and joining student orgs/clubs. My suggestion would be to move onto campus with a roommate (likely random) for your spring semester, and join at least three clubs: one for your degree program, one that's sports/hobby related, and one for a cause you care about (religion, political, charity, etc.)
Doing this you'll meet a cross section of people and come to find your niche by this time next year.

Went to UT my freshman year. Everything was objectively fine but it never felt right. Couple months through I visited friends at LSU at the chimes. Realized my mistake and transferred ASAP. My only regret is not attending LSU from the get go. I love the school and the people and I got an amazing education. frick the ratings. Funny thing is I now live and work in Austin (and I don't want to)

What are your hobbies?
For undergrad, I went OOS to USM, transferred back home to SELU, then went back to USM and graduated.
In the end, so glad I left home (except tuition-wise).
