He's gonna be playing Richie which is not what I would have expected at all. Played a much more Bill type character in Stranger Things

SO just got on Episode 2 (really good so far), but is it just me or does it seem like Daft Punk is scoring this series? Before watching this if you played a music clip from the show, I wouldn't second guess that it was from TRON Legacy.

It was more Kavinsky than Daft Punk, in my opinion. Sounded like they took a lot of pointers from the "Drive" soundtrack.

So just finished it, but is Will still alive? That is my immediate Crackpot theory that someone else is inhabiting Will.

Pretty damn good series though.

Seriously, Barb got screwed, and her parents gave zero fricks about her it seems. Not a single Barb parent made an appearance with the police. You would have thought they'd be working closely with the Wheeler's or the Byers to figure the shite out...but no. Also, just messed up she also happen to be the ugly, weirdo, and she was left out in the cold at that "party".

Yeah, what the frick? No one gave a frick about Barb. If she were hot then it would be a different story.

I've already seen articles stating they realize Barb wasn't talked about much, that the whole story took place in about 7 days, and that they will probably flesh out her deal in Season 2.

To be fair to that point, the "two hunters" got no love either. The writers gave themselves a little wiggle room by having the Feds move Barb's car to the bus station, allowing some leeway that she just ran away from the parent's point of view.

But it was just waved off as she went to the fricking bus station and ran away. She disappeared 2 days after Will did. Judging from the very basis of Barb's character, people would know she wouldn't do that. If I disappeared my senior year of high school and they found my car at a bus station, you can bet your arse that anyone (particularly my family) wouldn't buy that. She was an afterthought and Barb's mother only got like one scene.

I actually hope there isn't a 2nd season...because these 8 episodes were perfect in every way and more is not necessarily better.

I agree. I just don't see how you can top it. It's like making ET 2. I just think its fully satisfying as a single season. Yes I'm curious what happened to Eleven, but I'm just not sure where they can take it. I mean, maybe introducing One through Ten, but it seems redundant.

I just don't want it to go the way of Heroes. It hasn't cemented itself as one of the all time greats yet. LOST's and Game of Thrones' first season I think are superior and more unique than what was given to us. This season was really good but not incredible.

I accept the writer's response on this. The whole story took place over a week and they couldn't fit her in. If you think about it, there really isn't much time to squeeze in Barb's parents, unless you put them in every time we see Mike's parents (forget squeezing her in with Winona, she was doing stuff), which doesn't really work that well either. The chief was barely in his office most the time, so that's really out too.

I noticed Barb got the shaft in the story, and so did every one else, so it sounds like they will write more about her in S2. But really, adding Barb's parents wouldn't have added a thing to the story, because we already had that viewpoint covered. It did make it fun to joke about though. "No one gives a shite about Barbs!"

I don't think "It takes place in a week" argument holds up. Surely Hopper would have had to have still talked with them. For god's sake he had to talk with the bully and his mother, surely he'd talk with another missing person's parents. She just wasn't hot enough to care.

What I think the writers mean to say is "this took place within 8 episodes and we didn't think it deserved airtime more than the stuff we actually filmed".

Yeah, its absolutely meme worthy.

Ya, that's in there too of course. It's just really inconsequential for Season 1.

As for memes, I hope to see some. I bet some good stuff could be made using the diving board scene with her just sitting there thinking, not to mention the trying to fit in and cut her hand and die stuff

It's not a matter of what he would like, it's a matter of ACCESS. There was no Spotify. You didn't have access to the entire library of culture at your fingertips at all-time. there were very real barriers to discovery, and it is established that Jonathan lacks those means to overcome those barriers. In order to have the Smiths in 1983, you HAD to be a tremendous music nerd, and you had to have money.

If this show was lazy in its other references, it wouldn't matter, but this show is so careful in its set design and musical cues, when they get stuff wrong, it felt like being off by orders of magnitude. Sort of like the Uncanny Valley.

Like, if Mike had an older brother who had a rare import 7 inch, I'd buy it. It would still make him likely too cool for the time period as he'd be literally one of the 1st 100 people in the country into it, but okay. But not a kid who uses his paycheck to help his mom with the mortgage.

It's partly about character, but it's also about class.

Good grief man.

The show was damn near perfect and you are hung up over what music one of the characters listened to?

Just letting it go and enjoy the show. I her up in the 80s and never gave a second's thought that one single characters musical choices ruined the whole thing.

You guys are taking the Barb character way too serious. Think of her as a red shirt. She is not part of the central or subplots.

I for one don't want to see Barbs mom, dad, friends, family, and story. And like was said the exact sentiments are already conveyed in the main characters.
