All I hear is how this sounds like when he left Okie State in 04'...and all that bs. I've been busy seeing as how it is finals week...but seriously, when is this garbage gonna stop? Why can't UM just hire a new coach and shut it?

there is no talk. Only worry warts such as yourself beating the proverbial dead horse. :beatdeadhorse:

Thats the problem, THEY CAN'T. Rather than just stepping up and offering the going rate for head coaches, they think they can offer 1.5 or less and someone will accept because "its Michigan"

Because Michigan may make another run at him. At least it seems that a large portion of fans and boosters want this.doesn't mean he is interested though.

Michigan fans are delusional, that's why.

Michigan fans are eh?
Where were you guys in the 90s? Oh thats right, you werent rooting then. Just cause you have done well this decade doesnt mean you arent a putz for even stating that. Sheesh

Ummm.....I was rooting for LSU since the 80's when i was born and you guys were not us in ths 90's. You were never LSU.

Dumb arse...
We have a bowl streak from the 70s. Been following my team over 30 yrs now. Regardless of what is going on right now, not very many teams can claim the continued success we have had since Bo come on board.
Delusional...yes you are for even trying to dog the MIchigan fans/program.

Theres always a conspiracy theory floating around. I think its pretty clear Les Miles said he is no longer a candidate and Michigan crossed him off the list early this week.
Posted on 12/8/07 at 4:02 pm to BaronD
I think if Miles goes to Michigan...he will be worse off than Saban as far as the public view.
Posted on 12/8/07 at 4:06 pm to TexasTiger08
My theory is that if he does leave, LSU already has a HC lined up. All back room dealings and there wont be hysteria from LSU.
Think back a week ago...folks were flippen out before CCG.

Michigan fans are freaking out because LSU put the moves on them and tied Miles up and now they realize they should have gotten off their arse and gone at him or at the very least called him back that Friday night when his agent contacted them to see if they were actually going to make a serious overture toward Miles.
LSU offered to up his pay the Friday night before the SECCG to $2.5 Mill whether he won it or not if he would agree to sign an extension and stay on till next year. His agent made a call to Michigan because they had never contacted Miles because of the agreement to wait till after the SECCG. Michigan was busy sailing and didn't call back. Miles took the bird in the hand and made a gentlemans agreement to sign when the contract amendments passed. The only thing they added to the contract was more money for his AC's if the players met certain academic goals.
The Amendment was signed this week. Miles has stated in every interview since the one before the SECCG that he's not going to Michigan and he will be the coach of LSU next year.
Then Michigan got turned down by the RUTGERS COACH LOL!!! Now they are freaking out because they can't get Ferentz, they pissed off Miles, and they were spurned by Schiano. They can't get it through their heads that a coach from the probably National Championship Team of this year might not have need to beg for a job when he's about to become one of the top three highest paid coaches in the country leading the top team from the top conference.
They're stuck in the past. Miles probably would have gone had they gotten off their asses and asked him. But their hubris stomped on their dicks and now they are embarrassed. To a lot of them they think getting Miles might reestablish their delusions of how cool they are since nobody seems to be lining up to take that job.
Lots of freaking out fans not adapting to the new world order looking kinda sad with all the hope eternally springing that Miles will restore their halo and they can continue on forever with the denial about the fact that Loyd Carr has destroyed their program.

And that's their problem. I think UM needs to do some house cleaning before doing a reattack for Miles or Schiano. They had Les and botched it bigtime.

You did not make an argument against UM fans being delusional. Instead you go off talking about how wonderful your team was in comparison to LSU in the 90's. By hanging on past successes and thinking it has any bearing on today's circumstance you merely reinforce the idea that you, like your fan base, are delusional.

AW,
He didn't say that Michigan fans were delusional because Michigan didn't have a rich tradition. He said that there were delusional because they thought they could low ball coaches and they would just come to Michigan just because they were Michigan. That isn't how the real world works.
Plus, you had a coach that won a national championship, won 5 Big Ten titles, took you to bowl games every year, and was a few plays away from the national championship last year and he was only getting paid 1.5 mill. So, you're lowballing new candidates and you didn't pay your previous coach the going rate. Most people in this day and age would not go to that situation if they felt they could do better in ANY profession, much less coaching where a few bad years means that you're likely done forever (see Larry Coker).
Michigan has to start paying if they want top coaches. If they don't realize that, they are delusional. Nothing against Michigan. Those are the facts.

BM has already indicated he would be willing to go up to 3M. That is stated. 4M is Saban money, and if we wanted to we could pay it...easily.
Folks that wanna bad mouth us really are the ones who should look in the mirror. Yes you have had a nice run. Yes Carr has screwed us. But if you think you will continue this great run, or that MIchigan wont come back....pfft I want what you are smokin.
Michigan needs a HC obviously, but we also need a S/C coach and just play with an attitude again. The name does sell itself...cause we pride ourself for academics above sports...and not all kids make it to the NFL.

What makes you think we won't continue to be a top 5 team? LA is a recruiting hotspot. We are the only major team in the state. Our program is one of the most profitable in the nation(according to Forbes) Michigan may or may not make a come back, but there is no reason to think LSU can't continue their success

Step 1 would be ditching Bill Martin as AD.
He had a chance to get Miles and completely blew it, either through stupidity or through deliberate inaction.
Either way, his job as AD is supposed to put the hiring and maintenance of his departments' teams first and the requisite arse-kissing of rich alumni for building donations second.
Since he can't seem to grasp that, they need to tell him to sail on out of Ann Arbor.
Step 2 would be telling Carr to stay out of Michigan football politics.
Now that he's retired, he either needs to stand by and support the new head coach, whomever it is, or he needs to go home.
He's not Bo, no matter how much he wants to be, and, as such, shouldn't have the kind of post-retirement influence on the program that Bo was allowed to have.
3. Pay off the current assistants' contracts in full if the new coach decides not to retain them.
The disposition of the assistants seems to be a huge sticking point in negotiations with potential replacements such as Greg Schiano.
If interviewing coaches are told "We're paying off the assistants, whether you keep them or not, so just keep the ones you want and then hire your choices for the rest", they'll be released of the obligation to keep Carr's cronies on despite the demonstrated incompetence of one or more of them.
None of the above will likely happen, ESPECIALLY the third step, because of a combination of misguided loyalty and the fact that Michigan's athletics department is notoriously cheap despite their status as a top program.

I would say next yr alone you lose several games on road. Losing all those Seniors will hurt, and you are in the SEC.
I dont see ANY team ever being to run the SEC for yrs on end...too much parity.
