However BM seems to be unwilling to actually just shuck out some cash for a good coach.

Damn where did all the reasonable UM fans go, I liked them. This guy seems like a typical Big 10 fan hanging his hat on what happened 10+ years ago, and sure that no matter UM will resurface as top program for no apparent reason.

I would say next yr alone you lose several games on road. Losing all those Seniors will hurt, and you are in the SEC.

That's the way it plays out every even-numbered year in the past 8 years.

The even-numbered years are tough because we play Florida at The Swamp, Auburn at Jordon-Hare, and Arkansas at Fayetteville.

The rotation of Kentucky off of our schedule and Georgia onto our schedule doesn't help, even though we at least get Georgia at home.

I dont see ANY team ever being to run the SEC for yrs on end...too much parity.

Our offense will probably improve, but I see what you're saying. Going to Florida and Auburn in a span of three weeks will be tough. But we have Georgi and Alabama at home. If we can win one of the Florida-Auburn games we'll be in good shape.

I am very reasonable...

They are right now putting over 250M into the big house for luxury boxes etc. You think Michigan doesnt have money?

Rocket/Eggster...someone get this clown set straight.

AW Don't take that to mean that I don't like Michigan. I hate the Buckeyes and I've learned to love Les. If he still loves you guys after this, I gotta agree. But you have to admit that your AD botched this beyond belief and probably with the collusion of Carr because Carr wants to make sure his cronies are still there after he's gone and he does not like Les.

To see all the conspiracy theories on the Michigan boards now just kinda makes me wonder if these guys are living in the real world or not because the LM ship has sailed. You may get him after whoever you hire this time has failed and you go shopping again but you can bet your arse that if you do get him, it will be because you came to him respectfully this time instead of expecting him to beg you to let him have it so he could make less money. Yes, it's going to take Saban money after he wins over the OSU filth this year and yes you are going to be wanting to lynch your AD and Loyd Carr. You may get Les one day, but it won't be in 2008.

And that is why it's kinda sad watching these people dream on when what they need to be doing is hiring a coach. Fast. And the first step to doing that is sending Carr to the old folks home and making sure he doesn't have a phone there.

My next question is, if all these Michigan guys are still holding out hope they can buy off Les Miles and make him pull a Saban that would make Saban himself blush... Why on earth would you want a guy that would be willing to do that to head up your program?

I don't think BM is riding solo on this search, at least not anymore. So, whether or not he is willing to throw big dough out, is probably irrelevant now.

Aye Faxis...

I have been saying all along I blame BM/LC. Now folks that have pull are getting involved/speaking out.

Rivals is making it sound like even if we dont get LM, we get a bigger name. I think BM is realizing he has to pay for a top coach. We havent looked for a coach since the 60s.

ANd if I sound mad...I am really getting tired of the tards insulting UM fans(which I am one)...or calling us poor/whatever. No call for that. Michigan is a very respectfull institution.

Miles never had a shot...

He wouldnt be "bought off" if he did take UM post...he just would be getting the "chance" he should of always had if not for backdoor politics.

See that's the thing that makes everyone kinda crazy here. The idea that Michigan thinks the mere offer is enough for a top end coach to go flying off to Michigan. It doesn't work like that anymore. Especially not at a program where it's going to be very difficult to keep the job without some kind of miracle.

We're not call you poor, we're calling you cheap.

There's a big difference.

Because your school hasn't had to do an external hiring of a football coach since Nixon was in office, you've missed out on the realities that go into hiring a coach on the open market.

Michigan's decision-makers have to come to the realization that the Michigan job is not going to recruit itself.

You'd think that watching the Notre Dame and Alabama head coach searches over the past three years would have told them "You're not going to get a prime candidate unless you pay them market value", but they didn't seem to pay attention.

Rocket/Eggster are reading same info as me at Rivals premium site.

I also read several other "free" places daily, just mostly say same things. Everything I regurgitate I have read...I am not a drama queen...nor do I know "someone on the inside".

The question isn't does UM have cash. The question is will UM pony up a pay for a top head coach. There would have been some question on the cash front before BM came in but he has shored up the AD there financially.

Yeah I think BM is realizing 2.2M wont cut it. He had stated prior he would be willing to spend 3M. MSC is supposed to be in on it now...and she got Ferentz for "huge" money back at Iowa.

With all the outrage, if they dont land LM, I could see going 4M or more. Folks are upset...that includes me and my 5 dolla arse :P

I find all the talk of Ferentz kinda funny. His teams have been regressing over the years, that genius label certainly fades fast.

I think if Martin and whoever is doing this thing would have guaranteed Miles the job last week, he would have taken it.

Whether or not he was offered the job, I don't know. I think there was something in NOLA saying he was offered the job but it was "insulting".

From doing some reading, there seems to be a perception that Carr and David Brandon are doing the search for Martin and if that's the case, he probably wasn't offered the job.

But, some even think Tenuta was the one who told Kirk that he was going to UM with Les.

Who knows..

Arkansas in Little Rock. Playing in Fayetteville would actually make it a little easier IMO.
