You may want to post this on the tech board.

I've been a satisfied NEST user for the past three years.

I give them as gifts I like them so much.

I have no experience with the Ecobee but I can't imagine it being better that the Nest.

I have been nothing but happy with my Nest, and my friends that have Nest all seem to love it.

Cad will tell you that Nest is the devil and anything besides Honeywell is a waste of money.

The Honeywell wifi Thermostat I'm familiar with can't carry a Nest's jockstrap.

Didn't realize thermostats could carry anything much less a jockstrap.

I have Nest. Have been happy. But, Ecobee is better. Can control it using Amazons Echo

That's the laziest sentence I've read in a while

Euphemistically speaking.

The two Honeywells I am familiar with do not have motion sensing, do not record usage and there is no app for them.

They are merely glorified 1990s programmable thermostat technology that one can access via the internet.

i keep my phone next to my bed at night and sometimes reach for it half asleep to adjust the temp.
It would be nice to just command my Alexa to do this.

I just installed an Ecobee. Sensors in every room is the shite. You can set an optimal temp for each room and it follows your phone around the house to know which rooms are occupied and will adjust to the optimal temp in whichever room you are in.
You can even turn sensors off, which I did for the thermostat on the bedroom side of the house because its in the hallway and really gets its temp from the living/kitchen AC if the bedroom doors are closed.
I am extremely happy with it.

I just finished a house and went with Ecobee because of the ability of the remote sensors.

My thermostat locations are in little used hallways and make the motion sensing capabilities of the Nest useless. Add in the 3 degree variance issue with the Nest and I stayed away.

IMO, the Nest has all the hype but there are much better alternatives.

ok im' going to weigh in

1. if you have multiple thermostats and money is an issue, hands-down the amazon marketplace touchscreen honeywells at $70ish are the best bang for your buck.

2. nest sucks. tony has run the company into the ground and i would seriously research what's going on there if you're interested in support in the future. they just killed their burgeoning smarthub and i can see them fricking their nest users the same way. (yes i know alphabet owns them now)

3. ecobee is the best 'luxury' model with usable features such as the remote sensors and you don't have the aptitude or care about using a smart hub to add more advanced features to your HVAC. you can get an ecobee and be good to go.
