"According to an NFL medical source who spoke with ESPN's Ed Werder, Myles Jack's knee injury is "more troubling in some ways" than Jaylon Smith's.
Smith tore his left ACL and MCL in his final college game and has already been ruled out for 2016. While Smith's injury will heal over time, the fear is that Jack's knee will continue to deteriorate. Jack admitted the possibility of microfracture surgery at some point. Per ESPN's Darren Rovell, Jack has a "loss of value" insurance policy that kicks in if he's still on the board at pick No. 45."

These guys always seem to make it JUST past the point where they cash their insurance policy. I've always wondered about that. The wink wink deals that go on with the good ole boys in the NFLPA. We'll all keep an eye to how close to 45 he gets picked. #47 maybe? ;)

So if he's on the board after pick 45 how much money does he get?

So you think the NFLPA is telling teams who they can and can't draft?

"Former UCLA linebacker Myles Jack is covered by a $5 million loss-of-value policy."

No. They aren't being told who to draft.

But just like La'el's agent was telling teams not to draft him after a certain point, I do believe that teams will listen to suggestions.

And I think that it's more than a coincidence that the insurance companies end up paying out big time on these policies. Myles is not going to be taken before #45. That's just never going to happen. These GM's are not going to cost the kid $5 Million dollars. THAT's the good ole boy part I'm talking about. Sometimes you think, they'll take him if it makes the team better. No. That's not true. A GM is not going to take $5 MILLION dollars out of their player's hands, and then hope that he'll forget it and bring his lunch pail to work come Monday morning. They'd rather let the kid get his money and play somewhere else. Take another player. There is a honor amongst them, that says F#CK the insurance company. Get your money kid.

He gets $60,000 for every pick after 45, up to 5 million.

If we draft Jack, listening to Payton discuss him in the injury report every week is going to be tons of fun

Then that means he will get the full $5,000,000 if he slides to the 29th pick (128 overall) of the 4th round.

The Saints definitely need to spend a crucial second round pick on a guy who screams chronic knee issues. Hell, if you're willing to take a risk on a player, why the hell not snag Tunsil in the first round and have two cornerstone tackles for the next decade?

the "WIN WITH DREW" in me thought maybe Jack would be worth the risk, and could have the damn surgery after Drew was gone....

but with so many likable 1-tech DTs left on board, and a handful of DEs, and even some OT/OGs... I'm starting to convince myself that we are better served going elsewhere with the pick, even in the 2nd.... Back to the original plan.

When we didn't think Myles was even an option, my projected 1st: DT/DE, 2nd: DT/OT 3rd: OLB/DE 4th: Landon Turner plan seemed just fine.....

I was ok with taking Jarran in the 1st. If somehow he falls to us in the 2nd, and we actually take him. FAP CITY! Then we just add to that Kikaha rotation in the 3rd, as expected... This whole draft could just keep falling into our laps...

1st: Sheldon Rankins
2nd: Jarran Reed/Austin Johnson
3rd: Jordan Jenkins / Yannick Ngakoue
4th: Landon Turner

Having an optimistic Friday! We are right back on course, with the upside and depth coming at DT instead of adding the OT in 2nd. This way, it's possible to let Nick Fairley AND John Jenkins walk (although I hope we don't) and if Turner hits, also let one of Lelito or Kelemete leave too... Goodness. Options opening up, and so much damn cap opening up too...

If we hit on these DL prospects, we are playing with house money at DL the entire rest of Drew's career... we can spend all that damn FA cap next year plugging the last of the holes on defense, and also adding more offensive firepower for the final 2? years of life with #9....

LOOMIS GENIUS!!!

That wouldn't be bad at all... I still wish we would have drafted a WR, and we still may, but I really liked the top 3 in particular

I think the NFL front office told teams not to draft him while his involvement was unclear. Some team would have burned a compensatory 7th if not and called his agent's bluff about not playing and entering the draft this year.
