I can side with the engineers in this argument. I once worked for a company that decided to teach electrical engineering theory to the technician grade employees like me. That shite was harder than Chinese arithmetic.

If engineers could draw well enough, they'd have been architects.

The PE is just certifying someone else's design.

It's hard to pass architectural classes unless you're cross-eyed nowadays. The beauty of symmetry is apparently ugly.

Strange how I don't do this ever in my day to day.

But what data am I copying and what exactly am I solving for. If it's so easy to do, I feel like I shouldn't even have to ask.

Engineer is not a real "profession" either. Driving trains for a living... Pssh.

Construction side checking in here... I've worked with plenty of bonehead engineers. Mostly because there head is so far up their arse/books/math they cant fit a hardhat on and get out to see the real world.

With that being said, would I want to design it myself? Hell no. Would I want to be an engineer who is stuck in an office all day and then has to claim all of the professional liability when some bonehead contractor builds it wrong??? Hell no.

The never ending battle of engineering vs construction will go on forever. We both have our place. Believe it or not, if we both open our ears every now and then, we can learn a lot from eachother
