What do you think about elementary school teacher as a career?

I'm thinking about becoming an elementary school teacher. I love children and think I would make a good teacher (and no, I'm not going to politically indoctrinate them).
What do you think about teaching as a career?
I think I'm going to sign up to be a substitute teacher at the school district where my farm is. I would eventually like to live in the country anyway.

They mostly are sluts according to the OT and they complain when its time to go back to school.

Like getting an associate business degree.
You have decided to settle.

Let us know where so we can all write letters to make sure you're never teaching anyone's children.

Is there policy against teaching Alien Intelligent Design in school?

Can be a rewarding career
Harder work than most people realize if done well

It's a thankless underpaying job with benefits of decent amount of time off..

bullshite. They'll be hearing about weather machines, white privilege, and cloud seeding by week 2.

You won't like it. You'll have to work a whole 40 hrs/week, 8 months/year. It's too big of a cross for you to bear, my little snowflake.

Good job. Expect low pay. Everyone getting into this field claim to expect it, but actually getting paid on the cheap makes a % quit after starting. Parents in a good school system are very demanding. I would plan on getting my masters, and maybe your admin degree as well. Good luck.

my wife did substitute teaching for a while.
its not a great way to evaluate teaching your "own" class.
if you can afford it, go for it. it doesn't pay much but if you play your cards right, you can retire comfortably.
Having a spouse with a better paying job would make it not a problem that teachers salaries are not great.
and you are darn right about the politics. I would not teach social studies or history, because of that.

great job for a wife in a household that requires two incomes
you're off when kids are off

Now that's an income you can count on.

Agree. There is a lot of work outside the classroom, and many spend their own cash. My wife is a teacher, and I have helped her set up many classrooms.

I would home school my kids before letting you try to indoctrinate them.

My aunt is a teacher. She has a Masters in Education and has been teaching for over 20 years. She more than just a regular teacher. She is some sort of Literacy specialist. Think she is at about 55k

what school district is that?
I would think it would be a pain in the arse depending on the grade, elementary aged kids can be pains in the arse! I'm sure it can be very rewarding though, you will have a big impact on the kids lives, i remember all my elementary school teachers

I'm ok financially now so it would be about job satisfaction rather than money.
For the others:
And I'm not going to teach about alien theories or chemtrails - I'm not stupid.

it doesn't matter what anybody thinks
it's your life and your decision, not everybody has
big plans for MBA's n all that
money must not be an issue if you have a farm
