Stephone WAS a 5 Star OLB out of HS....
Maybe the Saints see him as the best option out at WLB...
I've said it all along Kikaha is not a 4-3 OLB.
Ellerbe is gonna start out there, as he should.
THIS right here, is why I hate stupid arse coaching changes. F#$K Dennis Allen
so maybe it's WLB Stephone, MLB, Laurinaitis, SLB Ellerbe
We over draft Stephone because we love him and want him in the middle.
He would have been their at 44...
Year 2? Maybe it's Andrus at RG, Stephone at WLB, Kikaha in sub packages
3 picks in the top 44, out of position.
Guess what, it will still probably win more games than last year, because the secondary will be LOADS better, and that will show up in the wins columns, but is it smart team building? NO. Is it win now mode? YUP.
Imagine how good Rob's 3-4 would look this year with a healthy secondary, and some young DT's coming out of this draft class. Sign James to play in THAT. or take a Scooby Wright in the 3rd/4th.
This patchwork BS is wearing my fandom thin.

That's a whole lot of assumptions that you're getting worked up over. You should probably chill, and at least wait to after the draft and mini camp to see how everyone lines up. Or you can just go in panic mode mid-March. Either way.

What's more important is who's on the field in sub packages?
Ideally you put your best coverage linebackers out there, which at this moment, unless Anthony takes a 2nd year leap, is Ellerbe and Stupar.

This draft coming down to Rankins and Lee for me
Posted on 3/16/16 at 9:33 pm to Chad504boy
I don't want Lee because of instincts. I'd rather take Jones or Craven.

Don't know when we'd be in debo position to draft
Posted on 3/16/16 at 9:36 pm to Chad504boy
Maybe. He might be had in the second round, or if they somehow manage to to trade down, late in the first.

Over a 100 total tackles every single season...assisted or not he finds his way to the ball.
29 years old...not young but still has some gas left.
Compared to Hawthorne he has to be an upgrade.
Will wait to see him play before dismissing him. While the DL may be better in STL their offense puts you in a lot of bad spots too. Smart LB's can help protect leads if you take care of the ball. Plus he has been a leader something our LB's were missing a year ago.

Unless Jacks drops, Lawson is my first choice at 12.

I actually don't mind it in 3-4 packages, that keeps Kikaha on the field.
I also would LOVE it, if Stephone played amazing at WLB. He has the size and speed.
I pointed out he started off as a 5 Star OLB. Could work!
But if that was ever in the cards for him, if it was EVER an option, why not take Eric Kendricks at 44?
I don't love it, if it means Kikaha is coming off the field because we are going 4-3 heavy. Guess what we don't have a lot of? Defensive lineman. Sure as hell don't have 3 more than Cam that are better than Kikaha was when running out there as our 3-4 JACK. Pretty sure that's why we spent the 44th overall pick on him last year.
Ok, you are willing to sacrifice him to Dennis Allen's scheme, well for sure don't spend all your FA money on a tight end, instead of giving it to Danny Trevathan who at four-years $24.4 million, with $12 million guaranteed is a damn steal, and he has a history of excelling at playing WLB in a 4-3.
This front office just doesn't have an identity. It's like Mickey is doing this drunk.

Could Kikaha play weakside DE in a 4-3?
Posted on 3/16/16 at 9:54 pm to L.A.
he did almost every down at Washington, but doesn't have the size to do so in the NFL... He was playing around 245 last season....

He was one of the worst defensive players in NFL and had the worst run stop percentage according to PFF.
At least he can be bring some leadership but that's about it.

Curious to see what the terms are to determine if I hate this or not.

We shall see what happens when Nick Foles and Case Keenum aren't responsible for putting points on the board or going 3 and out all game.
Besides Greg doesn't really run LB friendly schemes unless you like to blitz.
Not saying he will be all world here. Just doubt he finishes last on PFF again.
