What the hell is that supposed to show?

Those stats show that the LSU offenses don't belong.

And if you watch the game, you can easily see that we when we out talent teams, we can move the ball by just rushing it down their throat.
However our inability to create a mildly competent passing attack has and forever will be our achellies heal under Miles and Co.

People that are satisified with our offensive scheme and output the past 6 years are the reason this program has slipped to a middle of the pack team.

Yay!!! Texas Bowl!!!! Yay, guaranteed 3-4 losses!!!!

The team with the most points wins games.

...in November part of schedule, in particular.

Stats = football satire

2013 offense was an NFL offense and carrying a lot of weight I would imagine.

I rather see the offense in SEC play the past two season ranks

And none of those teams on that list won a national championship. Just goes to show that a dominant defense is the meal ticket

Didn't LSU finish 7th in total offense in the SEC in 2013 with Mett, Hill, Landry, Beckham, all experienced and in their final year at LSU. Also had Wright, Shepard, and Boone. Wasn't Tre Turner on that team as well? How is it even possible to finish 7th out of 14 teams with that kind of talent?

these are hogwash as far as proving anything. so LSU was ranked ahead of Auburn BECAUSE we had .02 more yards gained per play. I guess the fact that ran more plays per game doesn't count?. also, these stats don't even include scoring.

the "food for thought" I have is that, once again, a posters posts stats as proof of something and the stats, even if accurate, doens't prove a damn thing.

all kinds of things influence stats. teams with a grinding ground game will run less plays and have more Time of Possesion (which also doesn't make you chart) and likely less yards per play yet be the biggest bad arse offense in the league.

go put your stats where the sun don't shine.

Are you seriously trying to argue that LSU's offense this year was above average?

You obviously didn't watch any of these games.

And another stat I would like to see is Average YPG vs an in conference opponent

1) The 2013 offense can not be maintained yearly. Beckham and Landry are setting NFL and team records. Mett is the 1st LSU QB to start an NFL game since Matt Flynn. He's actually started more games than Flynn. Jeremy Hill had 1100 yards and 9 TDs as a rookie and although he had a sophomore slump, he finished with 795 yards and 11 TDs this year.

If we need star NFL power who are two juniors WRs, a RSSR QB, and an eligible to declare for the NFL sophomore RB, just to finish with an efficient and respectable offense, then the whole system is fudged up.

2) The 2015 offense is statistically that good because both Fournette and Guice are ridiculous RBs. We can't expect to get guys like that every year in recruiting. We haven't had an RB as good as these two since Kevin Faulk.

Again against top competition, the offense was shut down. Our three worst yards per play performances were in the month of November, and 4 of our 5 worst was the entire month of November. And they weren't slightly worse either, I'm talking the 3 worst were off by 2 yards per play. Given a typical 60-80 plays, that's an incredible 120-160 in yardage drop. This effect can be seen with the scoring as well. We averaged 32.5 ppg for the year, but only 16.5 ppg for the month of November. Every other month was significantly higher.

Outside of Bama, these weren't juggernaut defenses. Sure TAMU had a top passing defense, but anybody who watched the game knew it was more that LSU was bad than TAMU was extremely good. Sure Arkansas has a pretty good run defense this year, but that doesn't explain them sacking Harris 5 times and us being pretty much irrelevant rushing the football. They weren't THAT damn good. The sacking was especially bad seeing as the were one of the worst teams in the country in getting to the QB prior.

So yes, while the end result of the offense looked pretty on the stat sheet, digging deeper showed just how awful we were when it counted.

I'm perplexed by these "rankings." Why is 2013 lsu ranked higher than teams with more overall yards and yards per game?
