Have we talked about the Storm Trooper that Finn fights with the sabre?

I'm talking about the fricking bad arse that was able to hold his own and clearly possessed training that was far superior than any other trooper.
I seriously think that if our heroes had run into more troopers with this training, the saga would have been over much quicker.
I keep asking myself, who was the guy and why was he much more capable than the rest of the canon fodder.
This poor bastard might be just a drop in the bucket for the saga, but in a series where any character can have a following, this joker deserves it.

nothing more than a stupid tool to sell that imperial energy club as a toy, i presume

To me it reinforced that Finn was never stormtrooper material. Doesn't help that the stormtrooper was obviously comfortable with that bludgeon, and Finn had never used a light saber before.

I think it just showed how much fin sucked and to add to the misdirection on who actually is the jedi between him and Rey

didn't care for that scene at all.
why have such a bulky weapon that you can easily throw yourself off balance with, and Finn has to rely on Poe bullseyeing him at Mach 1? Just unnecessary and over the top, I wish we could ask who came up with that scene and why they thought it added to the film

Why didn't he just shoot Finn?

I thought that would have been the perfect opportunity to show Captain Phasma being a badass, but instead they wasted it on a random...

You guys must not play video games. New weapons are where it's at!

I always wondered why the Empire never used and improved on the staffs that Grievous' guards used. They were obviously good against light sabers.

Too much money invested in massive star-killing bases with poor defenses.

Weren't they supposed to be specially selected and extensively trained since childhood?
I find it hard to believe that they failed to weed out such glaring character flaws for a stormtrooper.
But I'm guessing Affirmative Space Action had something to do with it. Seeing as how Captain Phasma gave in without even a hint of a fight. The Empire has fallen mightily.

I thought it was a fun scene.
I had a bigger problem with Phasma just shutting down the base defense without putting up a fight.

I mean, he wasn't as capable as Finn. . .
