A man arrested after fleeing into a cane field in Erwinville following a fatal hit-and-run crash on Friday is believed to have been impaired and faces counts of fourth-offense DWI, vehicular homicide, felony hit-and-run, operating a vehicle without a required interlock device and failure to yield a stop sign, authorities said.

Nicholas Porche, 27, of Lakeland, was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail in the crash that killed 53-year-old Michael Holmes, of Ventress, said Trooper 1st Class Bryan Lee, a spokesman for State Police

27 year old with 3 previous DWI's. The POS should have been in jail.

He has a disease.

Would you want to put down a cancer patient that happened to kill someone in an accident?

What is really sad is that the victims son was killed in a wreck in Baton Rouge about a year ago. He was never the same since

Cue the DWI cheerleaders.

If the cancer caused him to drive erratically and he knew that...and still chose to drive? HELL YES!

This is a dumb argument.

If a cancer patient kills someone in a vehicle and then leaves the scene of the crime, then they deserve whatever punishment comes their way.

And if he has a disease, what DWI offense do we identify that at? Second, third, fourth, or fifth? He's clearly not being forced to get treatment for his disease.

You people are idiots. It's a reference to the "all addictions are a disease" thread from a few days ago.

Sorry we don't sit on the OT and look at every thread posted like you do.

Guess that makes us idiots.
