What do you mean took more damage? As opposed to the dead guy?

4 DWI's by the age of 27 should be impossible. After two, you should spend a few years in jail.

He needs to do prison time. Plan A is not working. Especially if he's trying to be sneaky and drive a car without the interlock on it.

Yeah..this guy actively seeks opportunities to drive drunk. A frickin interlock device isn't going to stop him. He will just drive someone else's car. Locking him up is the only option, and for a 4th dwi with vehicular homicide he's looking at 10-15 (months, this is LA afterall)

It's crazy that DWIs aren't punished more severely

Several years after your 2nd. You get a 3rd, confiscate whatever vehicle you are driving.

This piece of shite will get a 5-8 year sentence and be out in 3 years. It is astounding how these cases are not treated as 2nd degree murders.

He might save them the effort and do it himself. I've known a few who have.

Would you want to put down a cancer patient that happened to kill someone in an accident?

Nice.

He may not even get that. If he did leave the scene of the accident he'll probably claim in court that he drank after it happened

I agree he should do lots of time though

I've seen a few of these cases in the Nola area. The standard sentence lately seems to be 20 years. The law recently changed too so that this is a crime of violence which means he'll serve 85% of the sentence.
