That sounds like an awesome mix, any pics?

Unfortunately not on this computer.

She passed away in 2010. Looked like a black/tan Shepherd with the white bloomers and chest, but her ears were floppy.

She could communicate very well, and became aware of everyone in the household's personal timing, etc. Also an awesome watch dog.

My family has had 4 dachshunds.

The first one was full size and mean as hell.

The last three have all been miniatures. Couldn't ask for better dogs than those three. Their barking was / is kept to a very minimum. They were / are all very friendly. Housebroken very early on.

I have a red, he's a pain in the arse. Smart, but more stubborn than his owner.

My answer is Labrador.

I have a GSP. The answer is NOT that one, unless you live on some acreage.

See, I want to take the offspring of this and breed it with the offspring of a border collie & GSP. Perfect work and hunting dog.

Trust me...the answer you seek is a Cane Corso. I have had German Shepherd, Dobies, Chows and Boston Terrier. Great dogs all but my Cane Corso has been the best hands down in terms of intelligence, friendliness, protectiveness, train-ability, etc.
