Kitsch isn't the lead star in a major movie. that is a demotion from spearheading major elected blockbusters. He will likely never be that again
What makes you say that though?
It's not like he was some super successful movie star at any point. He was lead on those two you mentioned, and then said he won't be that again. But he was the lead role in Savages after those two, and was second billed behind Mark fricking Wahlberg in LS. Outside of a random Canadian comedy film, he hasn't done anything else. And he's one of the lead actors in an ensemble cast of one of the most popular shows on TV.
You're obviously entitled to your opinion, I just have no idea what you're basing it on.

Brokeback Mountain put a speedbump in Ledger and Gyllenhalls careers. Ledger didn't do anything until Dark Knight, and Jake has a two year gap in his IMDB filmography after 05. Both were pretty up and coming actors before that.
I could see how people would disagree.

The Crow killed Brandon Lee's career.

Last Boy Scout was awesome. Damon Wayans had a hit tv show with My Wife and Kids. It was in syndication for a few years too so he made good money from it. Bruce Willis had a good career throughout the 90s.

Did Costner do shite after Water World? Not that I recall.
Not a lot of noteworthy stuff outside of Tin muthafricking Cup, Open Range, and Man of Steel. But that dude's career had to come down at some point...he was making some sick movies for a stretch (there was a thread about that a week or two ago actually).

I don't think The Hulk killed Bana's career, but his star stopped soaring shortly after

Here is an old one. Grease 2 pretty much wrecked Maxwell Caulfield's movie career at the time.
Also, Xanadu pretty much killed Micheal Beck's career.

The Warriors (1979) opened a lot of doors in film, for me, which Xanadu (1980) then closed.

Dana Delany was an up and comer (China Beach, then Tombstone) when she chose to do Exit to Eden and her career hit a huge speed bump.
But she was naked in it. How could that be a bad thing....Oh wait, was her career ruined because Rosey O'Fatass was in some BDSM leather kit in the same movie?

The Adventures of Pluto Nash is commonly considered a career-damaging project for Eddie Murphy.
However, I propose the less-discussed idea that it also put the brakes on Randy Quaid's career.
Murphy has kept doing things and has multiple projects in the works, while Quaid has been out of the business for 6 years.

I just want to share this, because its awesome.
That was pretty much supposed to be the extent of the "video" for Say No More...
But they went ahead and shot all day and put together an entire 4+ min video, which I had no idea was on the dvd until very recently.

I was fighting the temptation to make a similar joke about Raul Julia and Street Fighter.
Good call, since the joke was already done on page one with Brandon Lee/The Crow.

Randy Quaid going crazy probably had more to do with his career problems.

Last Boy Scout killed Damon Wayans' burgeoning film career and almost brought down Bruce Willis.
That's how bad it was.
