I rev my car in the garage each morning and the car does not move an inch. ANd him stepping on the gas does not matter. I did not know it was punishable by death

Wouldn't it be reasonable suspicion of a DWI if the driver hands you a bottle of alcohol?

A full unopened bottle, as in the video?

Because the right course of action typically results in an indictment for murder?

He very well could have been "in the right" when he pulled the trigger, but man, I thought he did plenty of wrong stuff before.

I'm no cop and no expert, but he never seemed to have control over the situation. I think that absoluty contributed to the outcome.

Even if he started the engine and hit the gas to flee, of course it's not punishable by death. But you are being woefully disingenuous to suggest that anyone that doesn't condemn the cop's actions thinks he was ok to shoot simply because he "revved the engine."

What's clear is the driver was resisting the police officer and restarted his engine. Logic clearly indicates that the next step is an attempt to flee. That in itself doesn't justify firing on him, but if the officer was in reasonable fear of being run over in the process, then that is obviously quite different from simply shooting him because he "revved the engine" and "stepped on the gas."

All the bullshite hyperbole and strawmen people throw around after these incidents is exactly what instigates mass sensationalism and unrest.

If you run from the police. You should be shot.

Not always the case.

When I was 17 I was in court for a minor traffic ticket incident.. while waiting in court a police officer started harassing me.. He singled me out. He came right up to me, got in my face, and started sniffing on me. I guess maybe for drugs or alcohol? I have no idea why he did it. I have never drank or done drugs in my life. Any ways, I was highly offended and after he walked away, I said under my breath, "You arse" A couple of people around me laughed. I didn't say it to be funny. I was very offended by his actions towards me. Again keep in mind I was 17. I didn't even say a-hole, I simply softly said, "You arse"

Well..
He immediately turned around and said something like, okay you're coming with me..

I had never been arrested before, and haven't since.. so when he came to arrest me I freaked out. Just anxiety alone, fear of being locked up.. I bolted out the court room and even pushed him off me when he got closer.. I ran out the building and down half a block.. before stopping.. I started to come to my senses, thinking to myself.. well it's not like I'm going to get out of this.. Even though I was in full blown panic mode fearful of being arrested.. Then there was a man in the street that was trying to calm me down and gaining my trust.. He was in normal clothes.. He reached out his hand for me to just come back.. I tried explaining the situation to him.. Then once he had my trust he immediately grabbed me and put me on the ground and arrested me. He was a cop but not in uniform.

Well then, the initial officer who offended me was the one who drove me to the police station. I apologized to him several times and begged him to crack a window.. as I was feeling pretty claustrophobic.. but of course he wouldn't and he had nothing to say to me. He was a known jerk of a cop from what I came to find out later..

Any ways, when I was taken into the station they had me give my wallet over into a zip lock bag.. then they took me to a separate room where another officer in the building came to search me more thoroughly.. This new officer found $40 in my pockets.. (2 $20 bills) and simply said, "Thank you" With a very strange tone.. Then they put me in a cell with 3 others.. There was one very large black man I remember I made sure to quickly befriend.. he was nice to me and I told them all my story and they couldn't believe he arrested me over all that. They also knew the cop who did it and told me he's just a grouch.

Any ways, my dad came to bail me out later and when we went to get my belongings they only gave me my wallet.. I told them about my cash money in my pockets and they said they had nothing of the sort.. So the Hattiesburg police department robbed me.. and it was my word vs theirs. I would have made more of a deal about it, but I was just happy to be out..

The original arresting cop eventually dropped assault charges and nothing of it ever went on my record.. but I could have easily been shot and killed that day for simply running.. They could have framed it to look like I assaulted a police officer etc.. when I just pushed him away in fear and ran.. I did stop and turn myself in.. but by that time it could have been too late. There were police all over the area..

I have seen people straight up say, "frick you" to the police and they do nothing about it.. but I guess because I said "you arse" in court it's different.. I don't dislike cops or think they are all bad.. Quite the opposite.. but there are bad cops out there because there are bad people.. I was robbed by the cops who took advantage of me because of the condition I was in and my age at the time.. I actually donate to the police usually when they do their fund drives.. I want all police officers to wear body cams while on duty to protect both parties.. because otherwise it's your word vs theirs.

Looking back now.. with the way things are now.. I am thankful I wasn't just shot by police for running..

How do you know he wasn't walking along with the car, instead of being dragged?

How exactly was the car dragging the officer? He wasn't under the car or anything. Was his clothing or arm stuck in something?

Run from the cops and get shot...too bad.
I think cops should be allowed to shoot any ahole that takes off and resists arrest.

How can anyone defend the victim. He freaking takes off with a cops arm in the car.

Every one of these cops on black shootings is because the perps think they do not have to listen to authority, take off or attack a cop and get shot. Boo hoo. Parents fault for not teaching kids to respect authority.

I didnt say stuck...i said in the car. Again, how can anyone defend someone trying to resist a cop questioning them. He ran from a cop, oh well.

I would like to see everyone's response had it been a black cop shooting a white guy in a car.
We wouldn't be seeing ANY of the idiotic "play stupid games, win stupid prize" type posts. we wouldn't be hearing folks trying to wring out some type of justifiable reason for shooting a defenseless man in a car.
Plain and simple, the cop way overreacted, thus should be held responsible.

Is it proper procedure to reach into a car to try and turn the engine off if you think the suspect will flee?

That doesn't seem like something they teach at the academy.
