So I was talking to my friend about a story at the grocery store and I mentioned how I "ordered my cold cuts and then went to get the rest of my stuff while he cut em". He immediately stopped me and asked if I leave after I tell them what meats I want. I said yea and he said that was a major dick move. I was shocked. I asked my gf and she said it was kinda rude.

Am I unknowingly being trashy? Why the hell would I sit there and wait for them to slice em? What says the OT?

IDK this, but my wife always gets the food.

I'll ask her what she does.

I don't think I've ever had to wait more than 30-60 seconds for a deli order.

Do you buy 45 lbs of lunch meat at a time? It takes 2 minutes for them to cut it up when I get it

It takes like 1 minute...?

I might walk over and grab some fresh bread or something close by but I'm not walking to another aisle. That's retarded and kind of a dick move

If everyone went your route, they would have a hell of a time keeping up with everyone's order upon return

I condone it. the cheese, bread, and produce areas are near the deli at my local supermarche so if I have something from one of those areas to get, I'll grab it then head back. I don't go past that mosty to not have to circle back to that side of the store. I usually stay within earshot of the deli.

I can give them my name if it helps

If there are a couple people in line they can take care of mine when they have a free minute

I don't know why you wouldn't wait the minute it takes, but I also don't know why leaving and coming back is a dick move.

I assume they just set it aside and grab it when you walk back up?

Right, but everyone isn't as smart as he is so he won't have to worry about that.

Actually, some places allow you to punch your order into a computer at the deli or order online and just pick up.

My wife agrees w/ you. If she has 6-7 items she gives him a list. If it's 2-3, she'll just wait.

This.

Kind of unusual to walk away, but I wouldn't think, "Wow, what a dick!" If it happened.

I know on the base in Belle Chasse, you write down what you want and then continue shopping. We go back and get the meat after we get everything else. It works better this way, especially when it is crowded.

Just got home from the store and just did this. I always do it. I only get two things too. Then I walk to get cheese and milk and am back within 45 seconds to pick up. If someone thinks this is rude then their list of rude things must be pretty tricking long. For all those that said this rude, you bring the cart back when you leave right?

I dont see a thing wrong with walking around while they are cutting your meat. That said, I stick around to make sure they don't frick up my order by slicing it yoo thick or thin.
