You equate not celebrating or promoting mental disorders as positive with chaining people down? That's odd.

The guy I quoted said we need to treat guys like Jenner. How do we do that if they're otherwise peaceful adults?

And every time I ask this question I get crickets.

Lot of redneck psychologists in this thread. What qualifies you mouthbreathers to say he has a mental disorder? Who gives a shite if the dude wants to be a chick.

Contrary to what that one idiot says, it hurts no one. It does nothing to "the family." If a kid asks what happened, you say, people in the United States have free will and this man decided he would rather be a woman. It was his decision.

Is it weird? Yeah, it's definitely not normal, but if that's what he wants to do and how he feels, I say go for it...

i don't think Jenner has a mental disorder, and if what he is doing makes him happy, great.

but let's not fall under the delusion that we have the technology to alter someone's gender. we don't. Jenner is still carrying around actively expressed genes on his Y chromosomes. biologically, he is a male.

Ignoring him would be a start.

Only people that breathe from their mouths think it's odd for a man that loves women to want to become a woman?

This is so hard to look at. I want my 1976 Bruce Jenner back.

Yep, he was the idol of every kid in the nation.

A couple different angles to look at it from:

Christians are of course upset about it. What I do not understand is why this is different than ANY other sin. God views us all as perfect in his eyes. I could go on but I think that is good.

Socially, yes it is weird, uncommon, odd, out of the norm. Nobody should be debating that.

Did it take courage, was bruce brave, Yes. Do i agree with the decision, no. But I don't have too. As a citizen of the United States, Bruce had the choice to become a female.

Mental disorder? Who knows. As far as I am aware, science has not uncovered these mysteries yet.

If there were a scale of mental disorders or things that one could or would consider one, where does this fall?

Don't try and sound smart if you don't know the difference between 'gender' and 'sex'

What a cis...

the entire concept of "gender" is derived directly from underlying biology.

let's take this a step further though - what if someone identified as a dog? or as a gender neutral organismal entity? or as Michael Jackson? are their notions of how they identify as a person any more atypical than someone who identifies as the opposite gender?

All of you retarded sheep focusing on Jenner are missing the bigger point. Jenner is a Kardashian byproduct of the new media sensationalism. It's not about Bruce/Caitlyn.

Exactly.

"I was born attracted to 9 year old girls."

I have been suffering all of my life trying to conform.

Please celebrate my coming out.

I'm so brave, right?

You're right. Let's shackle him down against his will and treat him. It's for his own good.

Better yet, let's expect everyone else on Earth to support a grown man's decision to play dress up like a 10 year old girl would. We'll pretend to have some special profound insight and we'll mock others when they lament a once great athlete and Olympic champion's decision to turn the rest of his life into an asinine farce.

Another great idea, we can hire people to follow schizophrenics around and occasionally whisper in their ears. That way they actually will hear voices and they'll be all better. That's how we can best cure mental illness, by allowing the mentally ill's ailments to manifest and then accuse sane people of discrimination when they point them out.

I want to say that gender dysphoria is listed in the DSM-5 as a mental disorder so the "redneck" shrinks have a point.
