A new AD. We all know Alleva strongly prefers neutral site games.

IDK, but there would need to be a financial reason, obviously, likely through TV. That could be possible through demand for the game, meaning Tulane would need to become consistently good. It's unlikely certainly, but the only in-state stadium LSU would conceivably visit.
BTW, what game is that? Southeastern?
Aside from Tulane these are the last times LSU played in-state, at another school:
Centenary-1932
ULL- 1916
La Tech -1913
Shreveport AC- 1904
Lake Charles HS - 1899
New Orleans Southern AC - 1896

Yes GT, Southeastern was a night game.

If Tulane could make LSU whole (equivalent of a home game), I'd throw Tulane a bone and play in their stadium once.

I'm curious who is the opponent that Tulane feels is worth paying Mississippi State 350K to cancel that series?
Tulane paying $$$ to cancel a series with an SEC school, is really odd.

I'm of the camp that says we didn't need to cancel Ms State to do this, but to answer your question....
Tulane is claiming they did that, in part, to make way for the recently announced 3 game series with Oklahoma (one of which will be in Yulman). But that series doesn't start until 2017.....
There are rumors they are also working on another series with a big-name school, with a home game in 2016.....and they didn't want to play @ Wake Forest, @ MS State, and have a big name home game all in the same year. Personally, I wouldn't count Wake as a big name so I wouldn't have worried.

Dammit I didn't read through the posts and posted the same thing

I think LSU would need a 2 and 1 or possible a 3 and 1 . If Tulane came to Tiger Stadium 3 times (with no guarantee money), then I can see LSU going there.

On a serious note, I'm happy for Tulane. Nice looking stadium.
This. Playing on campus uptown will benefit the program a lot better than playing in an empty super dome. I wonder how much Forte donated for that place?

a lot of big schools do the 2 for 1 deals with no guaranteed money.

it would make LSU look small time...
for example South Alabama got Miss St. in their stadium but do you think Alabama or Auburn will ever go there? Nope
no reason to ever go there. the Dome is still standing, right?

Oklahoma is guaranteeing money (we don't know how much, bug signif more than Ms State's 350K) for the 2017 game. The second game at Oklahoma is free (in exchange for the game at Yulman)

still doesn't make sense, why pay 350K to cancel a 2016 game for a series that starts a year later?

Wont ever happen, but I nearly fell down those steep steps at the Balcony Bar last night.

Tulane joining forces with ISIS or Al Queda and smuggling a nuclear bomb into Baton Rouge.
I want LSU and Tulane to play each often (maybe once every 2 years), but any game in NOLA would have to be at the Superdome.
Posted on 5/26/15 at 1:15 pm to TigersOfGeauxld
It would be awesome to play in the Superdome but not that little high school stadium.

How about simply for the righteousness of playing the game you contractually still owe us
How about you say thanks for still being a D1 program. The tulane attendance figures were below the ncaa requirements so lsu came down to the dome to get the average back up.

I agree. The rumor is that they are working on another big name (home) game that year, and don't want 3 big name schools in the same year, and meanwhile the Oklahoma payout is big enough to make them not worry about the Ms State buyout.
I would have played the game in Starkville personally
