I could see that!

Independence Stadium Capacity - 49,427

The money would still have to be right, considering it's less than half the size of Tiger Stadium.

I would love to see an LSU/Tulane game at Yulman.

Too bad it'll never happen - not while either team is worth a shite anyway.

I just don't think Tulane is ready for that kind of crowd on campus.

I don't know about that, they used to host Sugar Bowls as well as Super Bowls at Tulane Stadium. If they could do that back then in an 80,000+ stadium, they could do it now in a 30,000 seat stadium. They might even sell it out finally.

AAC isn't exactly the same thing as CUSA, and it certainly isn't the same thing as the Sunbelt. And you don't exactly have the same football history with any of the other state schools either.

This is true but it still doesn't benefit us at all to travel to play Tulane in football. No reason for us to do that. Nothing good comes of it for us.

I was waiting for that. There was a lot more parking available for the old Tulane Stadium than there is now. Yulman Stadium is literally shoe-horned onto the campus, and it was built without any additional parking being added.

For another thing, the LSU fan base has grown, the area around Tulane campus has grown, and both traffic and parking in that area of town has gotten even more critical than it was back in the day.

An on campus game with LSU would be a traffic and parking nightmare.

Edit: The old Tulane Stadium...

...notice all the open space. That's mostly gone now.

the only in-state stadium LSU would conceivably visit.

although I agree with this, I'd much rather see us go to UL after they finish adding on and upgrading Cajun Field. They'd sell that place out and have ESPN there no question. I feel like LSU v. UL in Laffy would also be a better game IMO

I was there. The 11 am kickoff played a large part in the dismal attendance.

I was waiting for that, I grew up in that neighborhood in the 60s and 70s and people didn't park on campus, they parked on the side streets.

Think about it, a Super Bowl in an 81,000 seat stadium vs a OOC game in a 30,000 seat stadium. Not even close.

Not much worse than a home game in Tiger Stadium with 150,000 on campus.

Did you really mean to type $50 million?

That's twice what we get from the sec offices every year.

You missed something...

I have spent a lot of time in that area over the years, and I've seen the changes. I reiterate that the game situation now would look 100 times worse than it did back then.

It was tongue in cheek. I was saying it would take that much to be worth it to LSU to play that game in Yulman instead of the Dome.

We could do a lot on the West side, but for the restrictions. Can do more on the east and end zones than Jones' numbers. But the West is the best and they'll need to do something there.

Well then hopefully Tulane can have a few good season and the NIMBY's will realize that having a stadium in your neighbood is not all that bad and will do away with the restrictions.

On another note, I am glad to hear that Tulane is addressing the camera angles issue. Watching those games last year was painful.

How about simply for the righteousness of playing the game you contractually still owe us?

Yulman is actually closer to 24,000 seats rather than 30,000.

If Tiger Stadium were completely demolished/burned to the ground plus the Superdome & Independence Stadium were unavailable on a specific weekend, then maybe.
