I'm curious who is the opponent that Tulane feels is worth paying Mississippi State 350K to cancel that series?

They got a 2 for one with Oklahoma. According to ye olde green wave and one of the AAC boards that I lurk from time to time, Tulane is going to have to rearrange their 2016 and 2017 schedules to fit the OU game in and that is why they cancelled MSU.

Oklahoma and Tulane have announced an agreement for the two universities to play three college football games starting in 2017.

They don't need to rearrange their 2017 schedule, Oklahoma is the first opponent on it.

Oklahoma doesnt play Tulane until 2017, so they, directly, don't explain canceling anything in 2016. But the money from the Oklahoma game does make canceling Ms State "possible, and the TU AD claims he did need to cancel that game for other things in the works in 2016. We'll see.

Tulane fans are curious too.
Miss State (or Vandy) is the perfect SEC opponent for us, notwithstanding State's fine year last year.

~50,000 more seats

Tulane Exec VP/University Relations & Development Yvette Jones said that if necessary, at a later date, the east sideline and north end zone "can be expanded to add anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 total seats."

Street & Smith's Sports Business Daily/Global

All that can be added.

Is there any room to expand on the west side? I know there is the height restrictions from the city which is why they redisgned it from the orgianal renderings released. However, if the city removed the height restrictions is there room to make it look more like this?

If they could get Yulman to 40,000 and not look like total crap and sell it out consistently then Tulane could be a badass G5 program.

We could do a lot on the West side, but for the restrictions. Can do more on the east and end zones than Jones' numbers. But the West is the best and they'll need to do something there.

Attendance was only 58769 last time they played in the dome. I'm not sure if that was actual or paid.

If you remember correctly it was stupid 10:30 am or 11:00 am kickoff.
I was at the game and was hungover and no one really seemed like they wanted to be there including the team.
We went to support our team but it was not a welcoming atmosphere.
I'm cool with playing Tulane but we don't travel to play any other in state schools and I don't think we should travel to play them.

AAC isn't exactly the same thing as CUSA, and it certainly isn't the same thing as the Sunbelt. And you don't exactly have the same football history with any of the other state schools either.

LOL If we do 2/3 of that we'll be a P5 program.

Pretty much the kind of comments I expected. TBH, I don't think it could happen even if both schools wanted it to happen and the money was right.

Well, the did overbid for a Super Regional years ago, knowing that the NCAA would pair us with them and they would cash in on LSU fans attending.

It's on campus like the Slimers wanted and they still can't fill it up.

Having a major school play there in a 2 for 1 isn't impossible. Didn't they just come to terms with Oklahoma? A&M went to Southern Miss in the late 90s (of course Southern Miss was decent at that time).

LSU will never agree to it because the blowback they would get from LSU fans would be insane.

IIRC Tulane was a national seed that year and LSU wasn't... now what made Tulane decide to play at Zephyr Field rather than Turchin we don't know

then the same scenario almost happened in 05... would they have played LSU-Tulane in Turchin?

the only in-state stadium LSU would conceivably visit.

although I agree with this, I'd much rather see us go to UL after they finish adding on and upgrading Cajun Field. They'd sell that place out for us...I don't think Tulane would IMO.
