My dad use to tease me with saying he was going to do this when I was young, but never did it.

Anyone ever tried it?
How did it turn out?

Sounds like an alternate to sous vide.

I've actually heard of people that cook shrimp this way. Never heard of fish though.

Years ago I had heard that you could cook salmon in the dishwasher and I tried it.
Came out just fine, wrapped it in foil with some lemon and seasoning and ran it for a full cycle I believe

You know the dirty water never fully leaves the dishwasher.

Now if you had a steam only setting you could.

I listened to an Andrew Zimmern podcast today where he briefly talks about eating fish cooked in the dishwasher. LINK

I heard if your oven is broke, it's ok to use the dishwasher. You don't put anything in the soap dispenser, just wrap your fish in tinfoil and put a lot of cut lemons in the bottom of the dishwasher. The lemons will start banging around and your dishwasher may break, but if it doesn't break, you'll have really good fresh tasting fish.

eta: probably shouldn't keep in there for the whole drying cycle.
