We still should not have given up 10 offensive boards. We couldnt sit Ryno for Asik, dude had the hot hand.

Yeah, I mean I get it. We went with a mobile defensive unit that was capable of switching on everybody but Jesus Christ... at a certain point, you have to stop the bleeding.

He was keeping them in it at the end of game 2 with offensive rebounding and his defense.

It falls on Davis' shoulders. With that small lineup, Speights and Barnes should not be outrebounding him late.

Second chance points is the reason we lost this game. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. We shite on Asik for his lack of offense, but the dude can play defense better than nearly every player on our team. But where is he when we need him? On the fricking bench. I've never been more disgusted in a Hornets or Pels team, sons. :(

I know that Asik seems like the answer, but I don't think it would have mattered.

The Warriors would have switched him onto Curry or Thompson with PnR after PnR and he would have been out of the paint anyway. I doubt Kerr goes back to Bogut when they're cooking without him. Maybe that means Davis can grab more boards, but he was getting pushed all over the court down the stretch.

I said it before the series: the entire team needs to rebound v the Warriors. 3PA make OREB unpredictable. The problem for the Pelicans is that they only have 2 guys that can rebound on the entire roster and they don't have the size/versatility to match up with that small Warriors lineup. The guards, minus Holiday, were fairly bad last night.

Just as big a problem to me was the way the offense froze down the stretch. 7 points over the final 14 possessions will lose a playoff game every single time. That they couldn't generate good offense with Bogut out is maddening.

ETA: Kerr deserves much credit for having his bigger and better athletes crashing the glass in the 4th.

Asik was a major liability last night! 1 pt..5 boards....no boxing out, no hustle etc...that is the one thing that I agree Monty did right!!!!!

Asik should have played the 4th. I was saying it the whole time.

You're up by 15. You're trying to limit the chances of a comeback by giving the other team the minimum amount of opportunities possible.

Bringing him in for overtime was kind of silly, too. At that point, you knew they were going to have time to slow things down, put him in pick and rolls, and put our defense at a disadvantage. And they did that almost every possession of overtime.

Monty just fricked this up as hard as he possibly could.

Man, I watched a flat footed Asik get abused for 2 put backs before he got pulled. He did squat last night and if you think pulling him was the reason we lost you are an idiot.

Asik couldnt come in because of the personnel, mainly. I know that has already been said.

But we had Davis on the floor, Anderson, and I believe Cunningham. It's not like we had a bunch of midgets compared to them. Rebounding is an effort thing, and really GSW proved that they wanted it more during that stretch.

It's a microcosm of Williams as a coach. He doesn't get the most out of our players. The same way we lost to too many inferior teams this year. He has trouble getting our guys to play up their ability when the game is in hand, or its a game we should win. Lacking killer instinct, big time.

I know teams make runs, that is just how the NBA is. But with the way we played last night, we should have been able to withstand that run, even if we would have just barely eeked out the win.

Once the game gets compressed into those last 4-5 minutes, coaching really comes thru, and Monty routinely fails. Same thing happened in game 2. All of a sudden our offense turns into an over 40 church league demonstration. When the going gets tough, we look clueless, and that reflects the coach.

He certainly should have been put in sooner in the 4th.

He did not have zero he did come in for a spell during the 4th

But them Oboards were what got GS back in the game.
