Pierced ears are trashy now?

Apparently. I never got the memo. I don't care for it on baby's and toddlers, but my daughters have been asking to get their ears pierced since they were old enough to talk. I've made them wait and my oldest is to the age where my wife and I beleive it is appropriate. We told her she could have it done for her birthday provided she kept making excellent grades. She did and is a great student and even better kid so Im happy to let her get her ears peirced now.

Dude with pierced ears here.
Go to a tattoo parlor.
Tattoo parlors actually pierce the ears with a needle. Short healing time, the piercing needle creates a hole by parting the flesh. Nothing is lost.

The gun at Claire's literally punches a hole in the ear. Significantly longer healing time, exceptionally greater chance of infection.

If I was getting something pierced I couldn't do myself, I would go to a tattoo shop.

Their needles are typically MUCH sharper than that idiotic gun.

Nothing wrong with bringing your daughter there, quite a few parents go there daily.

If you ever see someone screw one up, you would prefer someone who does it for a living rather than someone who does it for 7.75 an hour.

Both of my daughters had their ears pierced by our pediatrician.

Was worried about the cleanliness of the gun which made me think doctor.

They use a "piercing" stud to pierce the ear, it has a point. So the gun really just pushes a pointed earning into the ear.

never get the gun done. Always use a needle, much safer, heals faster, and stays cleaner. Also they are less prone to scarring and droopyness.

Was unaware of this. Are there certain shops that are better than others? I know nothing about the local shops. My fear of a tattoo shop wasn't quality it was personality.

I still cringe thinking about when I got my ears pierced the first time at 13...

Did the "gun" thing (more like a hole puncher) at a Claire's. My ears got infected to the point I couldn't turn the earrings, so I just took the earrings out and let them close until I got it re-done in a doctor's office at 18. Nice sterile environment, no regrets.

I've thought about piercing my ears in a different spot, but the whole previous experience makes me very weary about it.....

Why would you allow your daughter to consent to living a lifestyle dictated by cishet men who want to do nothing but control her?

I wish I could help you with the local scene, but I haven't been in Louisiana in a long time.

It honestly wouldn't hurt to just walk into a few and scope the places out. The place I went to looked like a music shack on the outside, but the inside looked like a dentists office. The key is if it looks sterile.

****I mean to say go look at them without your daughter first.

Pediatrician. $45 ish dollars for my daughters.

Like they've said already, the pediatrician uses a gun with a piercing stud that does all the work.
