Anyone have an injury that limits your Outdoor Activities?

Within the past couple months, I've developed a pretty bad case of tennis elbow. shite hurts. Was working outside today building a new chicken coop and by the end of it, I could barely pick anything up with my right arm. It hasn't acted up during any kayak fishing yet....but if it does, I'll have to battle thru it.

Ive heard tennis elbow makes people learn to cast differently.

It was temporary, but I had a cast from my shoulder to my hand for 6 months in high school. Could only use a cane pole.

Perfect vision till retina in right eye detached 6 months ago. 4 surgeries later, with one more in a month, can't see shite out of that eye. Shotgun with left eye shouldn't be bad but left handed rifle seems impossible. Just another reason to enjoy the camp life without chasing the kill.

I was on a dove hunt on the Mexico border last year and came down with fifths disease. Could barely pickup the shotgun. Went to ER, they misdiagnosed as Lymes or possible West Nile. Or at least that's what I understood from what the Latin folks spouted out. My son had it 2 months later, it only produces a rash in children, thank god. That's when I figured out what I had. It produces acute arthritis in adults, man that shat was painful blowing through cases of shells!!

Was jumping in the boat last year at Toedo and felt something pop in my calf.
Second day of a 7 day trip.
I limped in extreme pain the rest of the vacation but damned if I was coming home early.
Smoked the bass, so the pain was lessened.

Sometimes I injure myself with whiskey and it hurts too bad to hunt.

Torn and never repaired acl.
Multiple dislocations of shoulders from trying to move things I shuoldnt.
Bulging discs and one spiderwebbed from an accident which we are hoping repairs itself without fusing.
Stretched tendons in both wrists from airbags deploying and driving my hands into my shoulders at an angle.
But the worst is the little part of my brain that says I'm still 15 and bulletproof. I'm reasonably sure I can't be killed at this point... Just really banged up lol

My good friend fell out of a deer stand december 2010. Shattered his leg, ended up getting to july and doctor gave him a decision. Amoutate and be done with the infection and pain... or do a bone graft that takes one year to "take" and only 50/50 shot it does. Beings it was mid july and dove season was september he said he wasnt missing hunting season. So he told doc to take it. Doctor took leg off below the knee mid january. Sept 3rd he was in dove field hunting with one leg. So i try not to let sore muscles or bones keep me from the woods

I've developed a pretty bad case of tennis elbow
I had this and would put on a band designed to help alleviate the pain. had the problem for several years. A doctor told be to put it in ice for as long as you can stand it. at least 30 minutes. two things about this. 1. you must protect your skin from freezing so no direct contact. put ice in ziplock freezer bag or elbow in thick plastic bag and immerse in ice water. 2. it is the longer length of time that heals it. the standard is 15 minutes cold and 15 minutes hot.
He said the 15 minutes is not long enough to shrink the inflammation. the longer time shrinks it back to normal. I did it twice and got rid of the pain for several years. it flared up again when I was working on something and was twisting hard on it(fuel separator in the boat). did the ice trick again and its been several months and no pain.

I have epilepsy, so climbing stands aren't really the best thing for me. I have to stay away from heights.
So I only hunt deer from a box stand or a ground blind.

Cartilage in knee is eroding & I'm only 28. Of all the sports I played it occurred in a basketball game. Running controlled burns takes a while to get over. I do a lot of hog hunting on foot & it's painful too. A few weeks ago I went to a chiropractic clinic for a buddy who is in school there & they laughed at how extensive my medical history is. I will probably require knee replacement surgery before the age of 40.
