Lamberts bbq is great too.

Good to hear. Thinking of going here the last night of my bachelor party trip this week coming up (assuming we aren't tired of BBQ by then).

Go to Juan in a Million for breakfast one morning, it was on Man vs. Food, see if you can break the record of 8 and a half tacos.

If L Boogie posts in this thread do what she says. She's a local with good tastes in music and can tell you where you can leave your car over night. She also banged Arcade Fire and Okervil River.

Also, can't go wrong with sixth street and the whole downtown if you like live music. And check out Oasis for some good views, food isn't great but the drinks and scenery are worth it.

Question for those in the Austin know:
My bachelor party crew will be visiting Austin for three nights total. I have one night planned on Rainey, one night planned on dirty sixth / east sixth, and one night planned on west sixth.

Would it be a big miss on our part to not check out south congress one night? If so, what should I sub out (if anything or just shorten our time in one neighborhood)?

All the guys in the group are around 26.

You're only half right. Also, I'm going to set you on fire.

Lots of really terrible suggestions in this thread.

Good suggestion. The gf and I rented paddle boards and went out there. It gets pretty peaceful out there.

Yeah I had my own Hobie so I did the whole thing because I'm adventurous. I wouldn't paddle board from one end to the other but there's more of a crowd to hangout with if you do that.

Well it's fuzzy memories but I remember being pretty happy with everywhere you sent us last year so gracias.

I know Oasis is uber touristy but the views are awesome and you pass sine cool local shite on the way so I stand by the suggestion.

I'm happy my suggestions were to your liking

Is the Oasis even still open? I know all those businesses on Travis are closing.

I hope so, that place was a great way to close out a weekend on a Sunday after noon to watch the sunset, it's my little Austin tradition every time I go. It's funny this thread came up today, my SO mentioned this morning that it was one year ago today we were there for Pixies Awesome time.

I have no idea what it was called or where it was but that country bar and the surrounding area you suggested were a blast. We caught a great country show and then walked next door for some south American percussion show. It was a great and diverse evening.

S. Congress is good for food and lounging around. Go elsewhere for partying. Dirty 6th and Rainey are good choices for night life. W 6th is lame To me. I would go to the east side instead.

Just staying for one night, though.

And Stubb's has some solid food and a good music venue, although I'm sure someone can probably suggest better.

I have lived there for 20 years and worked in the bar scene for 15. I own an entertainment company. So... listen.
