Where are you getting info on maintenance and rates on all these sites?
Because I work in Downstream at Woodcreek. I work with people at every Shell Manufacturing location. Since this thing started I've talked to people daily and I've driven across the picket line at Deer Park and Norco.
Is everything I'm saying fact, I can't say. But it's coming from a better source that the union hall.

They are definitely looking at productivity during this time... Also on the contractor side. They cut back on a lot of personnel and things are running better than before. It won't be like it was before the strike!

Cut operations to add staff that's usually how it goes
Posted on 3/12/15 at 11:24 pm to Calhoun570
Things ran better because you didn't have 75% of operators trying to recover from the 25%that were screwing everything up.

I also heard from a few people that plants were operating as well as ever.
What did this strike actually gain for the guys that were sent out? Raises ok, but it sure doesn't sound like there was an actual agreement to increase staffing levels like USW was asking for. Only an 'immediate review.' Shell should have put some more pain on USW. I don't want to go through this again in four years.

Do the local issues that were previously agreed upon have to be looked at again? Those were only good to go if the national was signed without a work stoppage. Since y'all walked out, do the company and the local reps have to agree again before ops can come back to work?

At some places it was already hashed out, so it's really just going to be whether or not both sides are willing to agree to the prior proposal, which they usually do. I think at Norco they are trying to get out vacation time back so they are going back to negotiate that and one or two other things.

Why don't you quit trolling on this thread, RAT? You obviously are a spineless SCAB as proven by the remarks you posted. Unions do not need folks like you- a union man has to have some backbone and have his brother's back.

All the Shell facilities ran better, got more maintenance done, and are cleaner than before you walked out.
Sounds like the company didn't need to sign anything at all, then.
I wonder why they did?

I have no dog in this fight and unions are completely foreign to me. It just seems weird to throw around words like rat and scab, or threaten places like that restaurant, and expect non-union people (third party folks, like me) to support you.

I respect you as an unknowing participant in this thread, but the words I throw around are not meant for the faint at heart. The language is common to those in the industry whether they be union or not.
If it weren't for unions in this country we would all be working for Walmart wages in dangerous environments.

Dangerous environments like Detroit?

So, do you hold less respect for those who work next to you in the same industry if they don't support/don't participate in a union?

I don't need the union, the union needs me. It takes more balls to cross the line then sit out. Ole boy stood for what he believed in. Just cause you drink the koolaid don't mean I have to. No side wins in negotiations, but we didnt come out ahead here. We basically have a contract we would have never had to go out for. Usw backed down. They had lack of support and rightfully so. We have enough "scabs and rats" running things out here now I really don't care if the union fellas don't want anything to do wit me. Why don't you get off this thread and go hold your sign one last time you ignorant fool.

In fairness your pay is where it is at because of the union. You may not want/need them now, but you are benefitting from their work in the past.

So it takes more balls to cross the line. Looks to me that you had no spine to stand up and fight. You took the easy way out! Now go hide in a corner and cry. You will have that label the rest of your career. When we first went out a bunch of you wished we lost everything for walking. So those of you that dont have any dog in this hunt frick off.

Haha your an idiot. If you think for one second that I'm going to have my "brothers" back rather than the 5 people that I support then you are sadly mistaken. I don't give two shites about you and what you think of me. I'm going to do just fine and have a long and prosperous career. Fight on my ex-union brother!
Posted on 3/13/15 at 2:15 pm to gmshooter
Fight for what. This wasent to help workers only reason y'all gone back to work is because ppl were standing up against the union. That's why they backed off the contractor bs. I never wished guys I work with any harm glad there comin back.
