The retrogression clause basically allows a plant/refinery to sell off that particular facility and without the clause then the new company can just gut all the benefits and whatnot that the employees had.
From what I understand it wasn't on the table initially which is where the staffing issue cane from, but really who knows what started it all at this point. Like somebody said earlier in this thread, negotiations are just two sides trying to frick the other one over.

Yep! Some shady stuff going on both sides.
IMO, a company will never just "gut" your pay or benefits. If that happen then they will no longer be in the competitive market and will get trash for employees.

Well meat. Ur thinking way to much like a free market supporter. As a liberal supporting usw member, you should understand that only rules and more govt can provide safe fair work environments

I spoke with a Shell convent employee today that has been stuck inside the plant. He said there was no agreement in the near future. Im wondering if those salary guys stuck in the plant are getting compensated...? anyone know?
Yes they were well compensated

If you think you are walking back into the same job you're and idiot.
The one thing that was learned was that the union laziness is the reason things are like they are. All the Shell facilities ran better, got more maintenance done, and are cleaner than before you walked out.
If you think the company isn't going to expect to maintain that, you're sadly mistaken.
Also, those local contracts are null and void, don't think that they are going to be as friendly as they were before. Expect to be out until April 1.

I asked before and will ask again. What rates were they running at these facilities. Margins are crazy high right now so they should have been balls to the wall capacity.

Huh?

Deer Park was running 310k on average. Port Arthur started slow and ramped up, but PA is typically fricked up anyway.
No idea on Convent and Norco was in the 220ish range after the Entergy issue two days in.
The local terms of the contracts are null and void and must be renegotiated. Word on the street is they don't plan on being as friendly as in the past. It's obviously ops and maintenance are needed but under a different set of circumstances.

I had heard they were staying pushing 200, but I am not on site. Maybe they started packing it in this week.

What specifically makes them null and void? They were only handshake agreements at this point anyway, correct?

I get guys in refineries and on the dock in 1-3 days, 30 days sounds like someone was blowing smoke up the rear end.
So, for the hard core striking guys; do you think a small raise and sign on bonus will recoup the wages you lost from the strike?? I don't think the numbers work out... If so, explain..

I may be overstating. This is specific to Deer Park.
The local terms were already agreed to, prior to the strike. The "rumor" was that after 30 days they were null and void and must be renegotiated.
It seems more true than rumor because they are floating 3 weeks or so till they are back in.

All I know is before we walked out I had to cut my unit back to keep the heater off edge. Where are you getting info on maintenance and rates on all these sites?

May be, could be a negotiating tactic to see if they can get some concessions.
With the meat of the contract over I think the local stuff gets settled pretty quickly, but I didn't think the strike would grow to the size that it has.

They just pulling it out of the air. No facts to any of it.

I highly doubt you get an answer. No one wants to admit that.

Seems like an odd statement on page 108 of a 4 week long thread
