Notino's in Bossier City served a "po boy" at lunch - ham, provolone cheese, soft bread and nothing else. I liked it. I generally hate po boys because I don't like sandwiches with nasty fried food on them and all the crappy lettuce that overloads most po boys.

Business partner says "that is a hoagie not a po boy." I disagree. I say I found the first po boy worth eating.

Who wins?

First and foremost, it's a poor-boy not a po-boy.

How old, sheltered or retarded are you to just be finding a fricking ham and cheese po-boy?

No

Without seeing a pic I think you lose. The fact you said crappy lettuce tells me your not gonna like poboys. It's ok, they aren't for everybody and it's not exactly the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Here is a little tip for you.... You can order a po-boy that is not full of fried stuff. You can also get them to hold the lettuce.

But damn, I loves me a fried shrimp po-boy as much as I like a roast beef. And if you are eating your pretend po-boy on crap bread, I can see why you don't like them.

In my humble, uneducated N. Louisiana opinion, I'd call Notini's sandwiches poboys. The lettuce isn't shaved like normal poboys, but the bread is a crusty on the outside, soft & chewy on the inside french loaf, served warm.

Actually, there is no debate. It has been settled a few years back.

I contacted the ISO sandwich standardization group in Geneva Switzerland today. I had to call them with a technical question regarding the Slip-lock Adjustable Pliers. When I finished that inquiry, I asked about Po-Boys and Hoagies.

I was told all of these food products fall under ISO/TC-34

After 6 phone transfers 73 minutes on hold and a sweet recorded version of "Helga Milked the Goat" featuring the Swiss National yodeling team, I finally reached the FAQ office and quickly learned the international committee on Sandwich Standardization (ISO/TC 34 - 2006), all of the following are technically equivalent forms of the (ISO standard product designation) "Submarine Sandwich":

Hoagie
Hero
Grinder
Barb Mill
Blimpie
Cosmo
Filled Roll
Baguette
Gatsby
Gondola
Italian Sandwich
Panino
Poor boy
Po' Boy
Rocket
Sous-marin
Spuckie
spucadella
Torpedo
Tunnel
Wedge
Zeppelin
Zep

I may have missed a few. I was taking notes as fast as I could write and I declined purchase of the ISO/TC 34 Standard @ $27.85 available (for those interested) from ISO Standards Documentation Center at the address below:

International Organization for Standardization
ISO Central Secretariat
1, ch. de la Voie-Creuse
CP 56 - CH-1211 Geneva 20
Switzerland

You're Welcome

By the way, did you guys know emoticons are covered by an ISO computer graphics standard?

Sandwich, hoagie, poor boy, grinder, wedge. I've heard them all.
