guess I got the terms confused. But I agree with you on the wr routes. The pro style offense is usually anyone that runs the west coast offense or the air coryell offense. Which is exactly what Cam is a disciple o

The drawback of the prostyle in college is its far more complex than a spread option.if you dont have an efficient qb it severely hamper your ability to catch teams off guard. If you have a good qb you can line up in a two te set and catch a team creeping up to play the run, like we did with Lee against WVU in 2011. If the defense knows your qb struggles they can keep their eyes in the back field.

where are all these great prostyle QB's that want to come to LSU. I think we just take the best QB available, which is generally going to be a dual threat, being we are in the south. Maybe we should run an offense that better suits the personnel we have and are likely to have in the future. We have plenty of great players in Louisiana and the surrounding areas that we recruit. Lets run an offense that works with them.

we run the Vince Lombardi pro style. Smash mouth. I would be in favor of running a west coast offense. It's still the coveted by our fans 'pro style' and is more popular in the NFL than whatever it is we are doing now. I don't think we should abandon our identity completely by going 'air coryell' although I wouldn't have a problem with it. Don't tell me you think we run 'air Coryell' this year or last year.

No we dont man. Stop saying that. We called and ran smash mouth because our qb wasnt good. Our scheme is not some 1960 scheme. You repeatedly saying it doesnt make it so.

Offensive philosophy is simple. Do what you're good at while minimizing turnovers. Rely on the the team as a whole. Don't be world beaters.

Pretty boring/frustrating shite. MOST of the time it works as long as your D is top of the conference.

Look, the tes have been open all season. We need better qb play. You guys talk about going spread or running option, well the tes will never be thrown the ball.

Then why did he convince a TE who specializes in receiving not blocking to sign with LSU.

There isn't really one, it's a fuzzy philosophy which the staff has had a difficult time translating on the field.

I disagree, it's a ball control offense that doesn't rely on one single player or position. LSU was 4th in the country in time of possession.

When your primary recruiting territory doesn't produce much in the way of pro-style, drop back passers, it's wise not to scheme your entire offensive system around a drop back passer that you may only get once every 5 years. But when you do get one, you want to be able to take advantage of it.

Ball control, strong defense, and disciplined special teams has translated to top ten in win% in the country over the last 5 seasons.

I'm not sure why no one wants to acknowledge wins as accomplishments, except that maybe the fan base has been spoiled and needs to experience several losing seasons to realize what an accomplishment just winning is - especially in the SEC.

The fanbase wants to be in the hunt for championships annually. Not sure how some of you don't recognize that.

What about last year? We played smash mouth football last year as well. We were a run, run, pass team last year as well. We just had great players on offense so it worked. But we generally only passed when down and distance dictated it. We threw the ball only on 38% of our offense plays even with the best pro style QB and experience talented recievers that we are likely to ever have all at the same time. We weren't a balanced attack at all.

What I want to see is the team getting the most out of it's potential and making the best use of the talent that the staff has to work with. We don't have the talent to work with that Bama does that's why it is even more important to get the most out of what we do have.

I think it all boils down to QB play.

So the frick what? The Devil's dying for a blackberry snowball from Hansen's. Just because they don't get what they want they're going to turn the whole program upside down, disrupt any stability and continuity, just to pursue the occasional championship?

I guarantee you that constant turmoil in the coaching staff wouldn't likely produce more championships than the system we currently have in place.

Personally, I just like winning. I figure, if we win enough, championships will come. And sure enough, I've seen it happen more now than it was when we had constant turmoil in the coaching staff.

It's not a matter of not recognizing it, it's a matter of telling the kids to sit down and shut up or I'm going to pull over.

well that's all fine and dandy. Meanwhile we fell way behind Bama and behind Auburn as well and are on par with Mississippi St, Ole Miss, and Arkansas as also rans in the SEC west.

If you're happy with 8-9 wins then that's wonderful. I'd like to see our boys continue to build and eventually realize a championship. Just me.

That's definitly something I don't want. We have the best HC and staff (withholding judgement on Cam) in the country IMO. Just need to develop a better offense system and we will be fine.
