Everytime I turn around I read people whining about Jindal's cuts to higher education and his refusal to raise taxes to stop it.

Well that just isn't true.

LSU had $10.9 million more in revenue in 2013/14 than in 2012/13.

Oh the direct state subsidy was less but self generated funds, namely tuition was more.

Furthermore in 2008 LSU had $438 million in revenue and had $453 million in 2013/14.

Tired of the whining.

Apparently, you aren't familiar with the liberal definition of "cut".

In Libtard land, a "cut" is whenever a governmental budget doesn't go up more than 3X's the rate of inflation.

LSU has become - like every other State-run, -funded, or controlled entity - primarily an employment and retirement vehicle for people unwilling or unable to compete in the free market.

The supposed function of the entity is merely a pawn to use to gain benefits for those who leach from it.

Those of us who get up every day and go fight the battle and fend for ourselves in the free market are superior to these leaches.

ummm, how is that not a cut in funding education?

Well, when people talk about the government funding education, we are generally talking about... well... the government funding education. Not privately paid tuition.

Here's the problem. LSU was losing the state subsidy amount and the legislature wouldn't increase tuition to allow for the susbsidy loss to be offset.

LAGRAD act is passed, allowing LSU to directly control tuition and fees, and then the legislature just cut their subsidy amount by a similar amount of the new tuition increase.

What does that revenue compare with what it was in 2007?

You probably should see what the budget was before it got slashed to hell for your comparison.

Not look at increasing revenue as it is climbing out of the valley.

well they've increased their enrollment quite a bit over the last few years. it looks like they're making up for lost funding by increasing enrollment.

OK. If he cut spending for higher education, which he did, you cannot deny that.

Yes, tuition has gone up to make up the difference, and we can argue whether that is a good idea or not.

But...

Actually, that statement is 100 percent true.
