'm still baffled by this board's love of Trey Quinn. I think he'll be a good player, but right now its pretty obvious he's our 4th best receiver.

Yeah, god forbid anyone let the kid develop

He shouldn't be dropping those balls, period. With that said, DBowe dropped A LOT of balls and he's making pretty good money.

Say what you want but he still has to catch the ball. He choked. N big deal, they'll just have to let his confidence work its way back with limited attempts thrown his way. When you drop multiple passes, thats what happens

he is out best receiver after the catch.

You seem to think that if you keep saying this it will magically become true. Show me all these plays where is making guys miss in space.

OBJ had some drops too and some on the board wanted him to ride the pine.

Quinn will be fine.

His confidence is just fine. He did not get where he is without beleiving in himself. Not everybody beleives in the "look at me" approach, pump your chest, celebrations after the catch. He operates in a much more humble fashion, and for those who have asked about this boards "fascination" with him, it is my belief that there is still a part of the population that appreciates his approach to things. There is much more to playing the position than meets the eye, and perhaps he embraces things like running routes hard to get his teammates open, run blocking, unselfish attitude, beating press coverage off the LOS, running the proper routes for ALL receiver positions, etc. The only opinions that need to matter to him are those in the football operations building.

Buddy, every receiver we have is below average with the ball in his hands. Quinn very well could be the best of this bunch.

Funny how long a thread goes bickering about a true frosh who had the second most receptions on the team.

Mindless bickering is what this place does best. But it's funny as hell.

Diarse has shown to be more dangerous after the catch. Almost every time he caught the ball he made somebody miss or ran through a tackler. With more opportunities Diarse could be and All-SEC caliber receiver

If you drop the passes, Les makes you sit the bench. Its that simple. Quinn and Diarse traded the doghouse recently. I bet they both make the NFL when its said and done.

Passes caught by WR

Dural caught 37
Quinn caught 17
Dupre caught 14
Diarse caught 13

Rest were by RB's. That's a pretty pathetic passing game.

Not giving up on anyone yet. The problem obviously isn't just with the WR's.

Quinn will be a very good receiver. That said the two drops for first downs in Bama game hurt. Had he made even one we probably win the game.

That's the way big games go. The team that makes the plays wins. A lot of pressure for a freshman. Biggest thing that hurts our WR's are the lack of touches and no rhythm to the offense.

I'm sure every pass attempt must seem like its the only one they are going to get thrown to them that game.

I'm not at all ready to pass judgment on any of our receivers yet, and yall shouldn't either, given our struggles at the QB position.

LSU could have Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, and Paul Warfield at WR, Jimmy Graham at TE, and Kevin Faulk at running back - all in their respective career primes, mind you - but if I'm playing QB for that same LSU team, those guys would not even look average.

Making a call on the mighty Quinn right now is like forming an opinion on a vehicles engine performance when the vehicle has no starter, steering wheel, ignition system.

One definitely did. I believe that LSU ended up with first and goal shortly after the second, on the Alabama fumble following the punt.

Just based off what I've seen. He doesn't look overly quick in small spaces...which is why I think he's better on the outside

I'm starting to agree with that as well. I think will a better outside receiver because of his straight line speed and route running. He doesn't have much short are quickness to make things happen in space or in the box with the LBs. He's not an elusive/shifty guy. He doesn't have Landry's agility, but he has everything else and speed.

We need to start going to 3 WR sets next year. Dural and Dupre on the outside, Diarse on the inside. Quinn backs up Dural and hopefully Tyron backs up Dupre (if we don't get him, go with Chark). I think Dillon (if we get him) would back up Diarse, and if we don't get him, Upchurch or Spears. That is a solid rotation IMO.

Just gotta keep the faith and let them grow together and hope they stay at LSU long enough to do something special.

2017
Sr QB - Harris
Sr WR - Quinn
Sr WR - Dupre
Jr WR - Johnson
