re: Is Kobe a team killer?

My problem is that you can't win without another talented player, or a collection of talented players, on a team. No one is saying Kobe won five rings by himself, but to say that he did nothing without another star or "needs" another star is ridiculous for two reasons. First, Gasol, Bynum and Odom needed Kobe more than Kobe needed them. Kobe is still producing at an elite level, while Bynum and Odom are gonna be pawning their championship rings in a few years to make ends meet. Gasol is still very good, but he doesn't have to carry a team.
You make it sound like because Pau didn't make it into the all-star, he was some Smush Parker being led by Kobe.
20.4ppg, 8.9rpg, 4.6apg, 2.5s/bpg in 05-06
20.8ppg, 9.8rpg, 3.4apg, 2.6s/bpg in 06-07
18.9ppg, 8.8rpg, 3.0apg, 1.8s/bpg in 07-08 before he was traded.
In his first 2.5 years with the lakers he put up:
18.7ppg, 10.3rpg, 3.4apg, 2.0s/bpg. In those 6 years, he put up a PER of 22.8, ortg 119, and drtg 105.
Kobe needed those 3 to get the other 2 rings, just as much as Pau needed those 3 to get his 2 rings. Pau rarely gets credit, but he was one of the better bigs in the past decade, he could do it all.
Pau wins another, its on a team, which is what Chicago is truly one of the best as.
18/11/2 on the year for Pau, shooting 49.1%, and PER of 21.4.

He has the second worst shot to point ratio of all players scoring 20+ppg..
That is bad and inefficient, but we all knew that was going to happen already though

Kobe ain't "Kobe" anymore but his salary pays him according to what he did in the past. His contract is killing his team along with the incredible amount of ill advices shots he takes.

If I weren't convinced Buss the Younger is a complete buffoon, I'd say the Lakers are engaging in the greatest stealth tank ever conceived since Kobe signed his extension.

Kobe Bryant is no longer a top 30 player in the league, his massive albatross of a contract will kill that franchise for the foreseeable future, no one wants to play with Kobe and I dont think Kobe wants to play with anyone given how he acted during the Carmelo and Dwight free agencies, and he raped a girl. Your team sucks and I hope it folds. The fricking Clippers are the best team in LA now, how does that feel?

A missed shot hurts your team almost as much as a turnover.

Tell me the major difference. Both can/do cause fast breaks for the other team, which is the major downside of turnovers.

Well technically the missed shot is better.
One gives you a higher probability of getting another possession by rebounding vs. causing a steal after your turnover.

Well first, even though it is a missed shot it still had a chance to produce points. On most nights teams will shoot 40-50%. More turnovers leads to less shots. Less shots will almost always result in less points.
Second, your team can get offensive rebounds on a missed shot. Shooting percentages usually go up for second chance attempts since the D is usually scrambling. So 10 offensive boards a game is usually good for 10 points a game.
Third, it is much much easier to get back on defense after a missed shot than it is on a turnover.
A missed shot is not almost as bad as a turnover. It isn't even close. You can miss 40 shots and still win a game. Turn the ball over 40 times and you are getting your arse spanked. The fact that I even have to explain this to your is embarrassing.

If you're missing 18 shots in a game you aren't helping your team. That was the point that I was making.
ETA: I was commenting on someone who stated that Kobe scored 33 points and only had 1 turnover, but was ignoring the fact that he missed 18 shots, but way to take my comment out of context.
