Part of the problem from the Royals side of this is that other than Royals fans and pretty intense baseball fans in general, the Royals do not have one single marquee player. The casual fan or fringe fan couldn't tell you one player on the Royals team. And truthfully, other than Posey and MAYBE Panda and Bumgarner (MAYBE), the Giants aren't much different. And even those 3 guys aren't exactly huge baseball names.
The Royals are a cool story like the Pirates were last year, but nobody outside of MO is going to tune in for every one of their postseason games. And the Giants aren't a national team like the Red Sox, Yankees, Cardinals, Dodgers, etc..They are closer to that than the Royals but still, they are mainly a NoCal team.

IMHO I'd say the Giants are in that group, maybe not on Yankee/Red Sox level but if you include the Dodgers or Cardinals they're certainly on that same level

This has been an incredible post-season. A diehard baseball fan's dream, as a matter of fact.

In fairness, tv ratings for just about everything other than the super bowl are down nationally since there are more options and more media to watch programs.
Yeah this isn't really remotely true

That doesn't change the fact that there are still sports out there setting records. FSU/ND broke a bunch of ratings records this past weekend, the World Cup broke a ton of record ratings, and the NBA just had their highest rated first round ever.

Not surprised. No hype at all for it. You don't hear about it on ESPN because it's airing on a rival network. No one has even heard of FS1, so to the extent the games are played on that network, no one will tune in. Kansas City and San Francisco are not exactly the two most popular teams in the sport. And baseball is being idiotic by trying to compete with football at this time of year instead of shortening their season and playing the World Series at the end of Summer.
But what do I know?
But what do I know?

Game 1 of the Giants/Royals World Series drew a 7.3 rating and 12.2 million viewers on FOX Tuesday night
It really is crazy that less than 4% of Americans watch any part of game 1 of the world series.

Baseball is a dying sport. Even NCIS - New Orleans drew more viewers than game one.
It's a wonder to me how MLB can still pay those mega-salaries.

If the Dodgers are in your group, then so are the Giants. Or the Dodgers are mainly a SoCal team.

Oh. The world series is going on? Who's playing?

it's definitely a coast thing. the Rangers World Series runs drew huge numbers regionally. Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Louisiana all had big ratings. it's odd that baseball is the biggest target for Coast to Coast bias. pro football wise, the I-35 corridor has huge, well respected football franchises

Cowherd said last night game 7 was a 15.2 rating or something. Is that good or still bad.
It'd probably be higher if it weren't for sports bars or thousands of people watching in big settings in SF and KC. Power and Light district(KC) and that park in SF probably had 1,000+ people gathered.

15.2 is the one game rating not the SERIES average. The series average will still be lower. By the way the SPurs Heat Game 7 was higher than 15.2. Do you even math?
