Game 1 of the Giants/Royals World Series drew a 7.3 rating and 12.2 million viewers on FOX Tuesday night, according to Nielsen fast-nationals — down 15% in ratings and viewership from Cardinals/Red Sox Game 1 last year (8.6, 14.4M) and down 4% and a fraction of a percent, respectively, from Tigers/Giants Game 1 in 2012 (7.6, 12.2M).

@paulsen_smw: Giants/Royals Game 1 drew 7.3 rating, lowest for a World Series opener and 5th-lowest overall.

I saw Game 1 was 8.0 and was the lowest for a WS game or something like that.

I don't know. I did my part and watched.

Doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure this out.

If you don't enjoy watching this Royals team then I don't understand how you can say you love baseball

Doesnt help when you have to search for the league championship series on TV. I love the Royals story but it doesnt resonate with enough people when they dont watch any of the games because they are on fox sports and not the network.

Gotta bolster the cable companies somehow.

Do you have ADHD? Cause that's a response I would expect from a person with ADHD.

Man, I got a kick watching the rookie Strickland for the Giants getting rocked last night. Giving up 5 runs in two pitches and then losing his cool on the mound.

Was he ejected from the game or just benched?

I will tune in until its over. I really enjoy postseason baseball, its the regular season that I've lost interest in.

I thought the MLB season was over until I saw game 1 or 2 on my guide a day or two ago.

West Coast team with a 5pm local time start on a weekday playing a small-market team with no national following. Ratings don't surprise me at all.

Hating baseball must be the cool, edgy thing to do.
