So we play him EVEN If he doesn't know which way the back is going right? By god, he may not know the plays, but as I sit in my chair thinking about how to improve coaching, I think Harris should be playing. It doesn't matter if he doesn't know all the plays, and can't complete a 10 yard pass.....he has a LOT OF POTENTIAL.

I agree Monster, my problem is that I'm afraid he has good reason not too. Still think LSU will live or die with Harris, but he has to get better quickly.

The UF plan may work against UK...I'm afraid against OM and Bama, it will not work at all. They still have good defenses. Not sure it will work against TAM and Arky either, LSU will have to outscore them, and at least Arky is getting better on D.

I don't think we nered to fling it every down or all over the place.

That said, we need to THROW the ball to the TE and use the middle of the field more. WHY so? So we can make first downs, score TD's, kick other teams' hiney, win games, and win championships.

Your flaw is this thought of yours, its not original. This exact thread has been done literally 100x already this year.

Bottom line, Jennings is not mentally or physically capable of leading a prolific passing offense. And the other teams' defenses know this. Play Harris, let him hand the ball off and "if" you do fall behind, you actually might have a chance at coming back via the forward pass.

Here is the thing Harris sis so green he is having double handing the ball off.

This is the main issue. Although I'm not sure I blame him

he's trusted qb's before: jamarcus in 2006, flynn in 07, lee in 2008, jefferson in 2009, mett in 2013 for the most part.

However, last year we set schools records throwing the ball. If he has the QB, he'll let it rip.

So while other teams can throw with lesser skilled QB's and guys that never make a pro team....we can't be expected to be able to throw unless we have a bonafide NFL QB (essentially one of the 90 best quarterbacks in the world if you go 3 deep on every NFL roster)? Such as Flynn, Russell, and Mett?

I get it. He wants to run the ball to slow down the game, outphysical his opponent, and not turn the ball over. This is a good strategy ONLY if you have a dominant defense. LSU's defense is not dominant or even close to dominant

Isn't the "Offensive Philosophy" you claim to belong to Miles the very best way to cover for a non-dominant D?

And Harris is... based off what? His 39% completion rate in the SEC with 2 TDs and 1 int?

I don't care who starts for LSU, I don't see this Harris is great and Jennings sucks stuff that some seem to be able to see.

He didn't trust Jefferson in 09....but we can all agree that 08 scarred him.

Have we thrown a pick 6 since 08? Point being is that every good QB throws pick 6's...hell even Brees has been known to do it.

That's the reason why we often cant get young players in to get experience. You heard him give the excuse for not playing Harris? The game was too close so we felt that we had to stay with Jennings. That goes with all positions. The fact that we play close in games is because of his system. Les should have seen it coming that he loses so many early to the NFL and played the DLmen who are now unable to step up.

I think you are outthinking yourself. we HAVE to score points to win and our running game is the best chance we have to score points. fall behind or not.

This! A win comes from scoring more points than your opponent in 60 minutes. It doesn't matter if you run effectively and score a TD after a 9 minute drive or pass and score a TD in 1 minute. Our best chance to score right now is to run the ball. I think we've proven that we can come from behind to win with Jennings.

as we have Cameron in-house and two VERY green QBs

yes, our QBs are young, but please stop with this excuse. Manziel was inexperienced. Winston was inexperienced. Cam Newton was inexperienced. Braxton Miller. Heck, even McCarron was inexperienced when he started, but managed to do ok. Etc, etc, etc.

If a QB has it, they have it, regardless of their experience level. Coaching helps a lot, too. But our problem isn't that our QBs are green, it's that they just may not be very good.

His point is that Harris is a better passer than Jennings and could potentially score more points on offense.

Out of hundreds of young QB's not starting you listed heisman winners and complete studs.

Are they fair comparisons?

Once LSU falls behind, they have almost zero chance of catching up with this offensive philosophy, unless the opponent has a pathetic offense
Is that why LSU has some of the best come from behind in the 4th quarter results of any team in the SEC since Les has been here?

Our "come from behind" record is a by-product of the fact that we get behind in pretty much every non cream puff game.

I think I get what you are saying here. But it actually speeds up the game. Makes it shorter.

This year, yes. Not every game Les has coached. But I guess it is better to lose those games?
