"We're not going to operate that way," Miles said when asked if Harris was now the starter. We've always done things in a measured fashion. We'll go back on the film and communicate with our team, and not do so through the paper. We're going to do the things we do to reconcile the game. It's not necessarily the splash you guys want. It's just how we do things."

Miles was not happy with the booing and was letting it be known that he makes the decisions, not the crowd.

All Miles is saying is that he doesn't make, or announce, shakeups in starting positions in postgame press conferences. He does it in a way best calculated to make sure the players understand the thinking behind the change. Any other interpretation is simply an attempt to bend his words to suit the "interpreter's" agenda.

there's nothing in his conference that leads me to believe he's not bullish on harris; nothing at all.

the man has TWO qb's to be concerned with. what's he supposed to say? all he's doing is calming everything down. the guy did a great job against NMS for god's sake. the meat of our schedule is coming up. not time to get giddy

Don't announce a starter till game time. Give Auburn less time to plan.

I'm not reading into anything Les says. Just wait until Saturday and see who starts.

On a side note, I can't contain my excitement for Brandon Harris. The guy is a baller, leader, and just seems like a great young man.

He's going to go very far in football and life.

Eta- I thought true freshman were off limits to media.

sounds like he just doesn't want to put these kids under a heat lamp the week leading up to a big game. naming a starter would definitely do that. BH plays most if not all of the game imo

I other words, "Harris won't start unless AJ gets Hurt or one of them transfers. don't give a damn how many games it costs us."

I really get the sense that Miles is digging his heals in and won't start Harris for no other reason than to say "Screw you, I am the coach and I will decide what happens to this team, not fans or the media"

While he may have a point, to keep the better player on the bench just to spite fans and media is beyond stupid.

= if I decide to start Harris I don't want Anthony Jennings to find out about it from Twitter. I'm going to tell him like a man why he lost his job.

This was the right thing to say.

You don't do an interview right after a game and basically say, "yeah, the other guy lost his job".

I mean hell folks. I think Miles f'd this thing up royally, but cmon, what did you want him to say right there?
