Ok what exactly is the Nitro? I had a six pack of regular left handed milk stout over the weekend. Saw the nitro but didn't get it.

They pump nitrogen in the beer

Just got home from work at the hospital, and stumbled onto this thread… I have a stash of both nitro and the traditional. I actually prefer the traditional, and I prefer either out of the tap over the bottle, but I think I might go chill one of each and do a side by side.
If I remember to, I'll update this post before I fall asleep.

What does this do?
Nitrogen is less soluble in beer than CO2.
This tends to gives the beer a thicker creamier mouth feel due to the fact that all of the nitrogen is released when you pour the beer.
All nitrogen beers are also partially carbonated with C02. This prevents the beer from being flat when the nitrogen is released on pouring.
I'm not a fan of Milk Stouts. So I really don't care for the Left Hand Nitro, but Oskar Blues Old Chub Nitro in a can is excellent.

Didn't get around to it last night because they weren't cold but had a green flash double stout instead.
Was planning on trying the milk tonight but was just informed its a breakfast/morning beer. Is this true?

Seriously though, well done. You have a tough team.

Yeah, that's dumb. Drink it whenever you want.

Oh, I intend to. Just wasn't sure if there was a recommendation to drink it earlier in the day.

The lack of carbonation confuses me.

That's what I don't like about it... Awesome mouth feel but almost flat tasting
Posted on 9/24/14 at 6:56 pm to gmrkr5
Yeah. It's nice to taste everything better but I think I'll stick with CO2 from now on.

I drink one every time I can get it. It is available in Florida and Texas, but not here. I have emailed left hand a few times with no response.

Not stupid. It was designed to be poured over Lucky Charms.

I love drafts on nitro. It adds effervescence just not that CO2 "bite". You get the full flavors in the beers. Just one fat beer lovin' dude's opinion though.
