Well, I'm weak and admit it. Because that does not work for me. Congrats to you, though.

quote:

Nicotine imitates the action of a natural neurotransmitter called acetylcholine and binds to a particular type of acetylcholine receptor, known as the nicotinic receptor.

Whether it is acetylcholine or nicotine that binds to this receptor, it responds in the same way: it changes its conformation, which causes its associated ion channel to open for a few milliseconds. This channel then allows sodium ions to enter the neuron, depolarizing the membrane and exciting the cell. Then the channel closes again, and the nicotinic receptor becomes temporarily unresponsive to any neurotransmitters. It is this state of desensitization that is artificially prolonged by continual exposure to nicotine.

Tobacco dependency, which then develops very quickly, arises because nicotinic receptors are present on the neurons of the ventral tegmental area which project their terminations into the nucleus accumbens. In smokers, repeated nicotine stimulation thus increases the amount of dopamine released in the nucleus accumbens. Between cigarettes, however, chronic smokers maintain a high enough concentration of nicotine to deactivate the receptors and slow down their recovery. This is why smokers develop a tolerance to nicotine and experience reduced pleasure from it.

After a brief period without smoking (a night’s sleep, for example), the baseline concentration of nicotine drops again, and some of the receptors regain their sensitivity. When all these receptors become functional again, cholinergic neurotransmission is raised to an abnormally high level that affects all the cholinergic pathways in the brain. Smokers then experience the agitation and discomfort that leads them to smoke another cigarette.

Another substance in tobacco smoke, not yet clearly identified, inhibits monoamine oxydase B (MAO B), an enzyme that breaks down dopamine after its reuptake. The result is a higher concentration of dopamine in the reward circuit, which also contributes to the smoker’s dependency.

Just messing with you, but I don't smoke so can't comment. Makes me feel like shite to be honest. People start smoking when they drink and then move from there in my minimal experience.

you're just talking like an addict. you're creating justifications based on your addictions, which is more like your behavioral patterns

it's just habit after 2-3 days

stop smoking in certain places so you have fewer habits to break when you quit

I'm aware I am. I am addicted, no doubt. I wish I had never started. Breaking those habits first sounds like a good plan.

You just have to wait out the point where you feel like you are going to freak out. It's hard. I've gotten past that point a couple times. My tripping up time is when I get to those perfect moments to have a smoke such as shooting the shite with a buddy over a beer and wanting to drop a couple butts.

They like the way cigarettes give them an excuse to take "smoke breaks".

everyone who started smoking, did it to be cool or fit in and now they are stuck.

It's a sad habit.

Then they want to smoke everywhere and bitch fest, if people get upset.

shite stinks and people who smoke all stink.

Lol it's all good man. I hung out with some friends I hadn't seen in awhile recently, and I kinda felt out of place because one, I don't drink, and two, I don't smoke, while my friends do both. They were chugging beers and chain-smoking, so at that point I equated heavy drinking with heavy smoking. I tried a cigarette one time and didn't like it, that was it. I am glad that I don't smoke or drink because unfortunately I have an addiction to eating, and eating the wrong foods at that. So thankfully for my health, those two other factors aren't there lol.

Those don't bother me either. I just don't want to die prematurely. If it wasn't bad for me, I'd keep right on smoking without a care in the world.

Nope, I don't like options being taken away satisfy other. I went to bars that didn't allow smoking inside and had no problem, but it's bullshite for the city to ban it.

That was my justification for trying all the designer drugs.
