As long as cigarette smokers aren't covered under public healthcare and they can't smoke near me in restaurants, I don't give a frick if you give yourself lung cancer.

Those don't bother me either. I just don't want to die prematurely.

If I had children I'd probably think differently. At this point I just don't really give a shite, and it's not as if cigarettes are my lone vice.

that would sum up 90% of all laws if you really think about it.

get used to it.

Smoking is down among teens and younger adults. It's a great trend, if this is what it takes to kill it, then great.

Having said that. I personally do feel that private business that don't serve food should have a choice.

As against smoking as I am, I really do feel that healthcare should be a right not a privilege.

Why don't they just make it illegal? Serious question. Why even sell them at all if it's going to be banned every where? I'm sure there'd be some black market for them, buy I think most people would just quit.

I think any business should have the choice. Let the market decide what people want, not some pissy citizen and/or bureaucrat who wants to enforce their vision on others.

This line of thinking can be applied to far more than just tobacco products and is anathema to freedom.

Not many legal things are treated like cigarettes and cigarette smokers.

You forfeit the right to have your peers pay for your medical coverage in this case.

Making things illegal doesn't make people quit. (see prohibition)

You can smoke them outside, just not inside. If weed is ever legal, I doubt we will see coffee houses for pot like in AMsterdam.

I think everything should be legal. Legislating morality is stupid.

It's really only banned indoors.

that's actually a long-term reason why i quit

obesity and smoking should eliminate you from public health care

...and people wonder why i started eating healthy at the end of last year...right when i quit smoking

well I think the market has decided long ago that they want legal drugs.. lol..
Market for that is huge.

It sucks to go to a place and get food and be in a smoke cloud.
Most people I know who smoke don't smoke in their OWN house or OWN car, but get upset if they can't smoke in a bar, or whatever.

I think it's headed in that direction. I was at Walgreens the other day picking up cigs, and they told me that I had to use my little card thing and that soon they would be on sale and you couldn't buy them without their store card. I think they're going to start tracking smokers.

Then don't go to restaurants that allow it. It won't take long for the owner to realize he is missing out on business because he allows smoking.

Not true. Cities are starting to van outdoor smoking and a lot of private businesses, too. And it's much harder to grow your own tobacco than it is to make bathtub gin.

I haven't looked into it but I'm fairly certain there are regulations and licensure required in order to legally grow tobacco.

I'm talking about of cigarettes were illegal. It's not like you can just easily grow your own illegally.

ETA: Prohibition didn't work because people could easily make their own alcohol or put their hands on some. I don't think it would be the same if cigs were illegal.

Yeah I know it sounds harsh but it's really the only feasible way to make it happen.

I never use those cards. I just use Jenny's number.

It works in every store in every state no matter what, someone has already set up an account with Jenny's number.
867-5209 use the local area code.
