NCAA can't "force" us, but we can't host certain events in the state as long as the CSA flag is at the state house.

It's more of the heritage of "standing up to the government trying to impose their will" kind of thing, especially since most Southern ancestors that fought didn't own slaves.
Don't get me wrong, the Civil War happened because of slavery, but I think that's what 2014 Southerners hang onto.

What happened to all of that patriotism after 9-11-01 when everyone hung a U.S. flag? I don't remember seeing any confederate flags back then, perhaps because it represents rebellion against and waging the bloodiest war against the U.S. in our history?

In today's society, I doubt they'd even put up a real fight. They'd posture, but it's been done too many times. We won't stand up and let honest truth win on this type of thing anymore.
