Of the cars you list, Consumer reports suggests the Audi's and the Mercedes. Based on my research and experience I would never buy any Jeep.

I tend to prefer Japanese. I have owned two Avalons - frankly the overall build quality was a little better in the older ones. But Toyota and Lexus build great cars, even if they are not flashy. If you are young and still trying to impress people, they might not be for you.

Have you looked at any of the Infinitis. The G has consistently high ratings, and the Infiniti's I've driven are fun to drive.

For what it's worth, I drive an '06 Tundra with 240k miles on it. I honestly cannot think of a car I would rather drive.

Man, I like you, and clearly you love your car, but your 5-series w/manual schtick is tired.

You wouldn't know quality engineering if it were in your hand then. The manual transmission in that car, both the pedal and the shifter, is as nice as anything built for the consumer market on any level (I'm talking about any product period not just automobiles). When a 230hp naturally aspirated inline 6 is tired, then you've succumbed to the shite you don't syndrome . It's my wife's damn car I'm not giving her a fricking rocket to kill herself in, she's too cute for that. The car won't be tired in 15 years, much less now.

ou didn't answer my question. You can do that for $5k too, so why stop at $15k?

Don't think you can do it for 5k but you can definitely do it for 15k

OP - Here are the guidelines:
1) Used / Certified Pre-Owned
2) Low mileage - looking for less than 25,000 miles, ideally around 10,000
3) 2013 or newer

If you are young and still trying to impress people, they might not be for you.

You can easily find reliable transportation that will last 100k miles for $5k.

ETA: And you aren't getting anything close to what the OP wants for $15k.

I don't drive a nice vehicle to impress you. I do it because I enjoy it. I'm sure you have a hobby you waste money on. If not, I feel sorry for you.

Didn't say you could not find reliable to 100k for 5k, look at OP's mileage and age of vehicle. Don't think you can do that for 5k

You're not doing it for $15k either. Unless you want to put him in a Mazda 3 or Honda Civic. OP clearly doesn't want that.

Yeah.

Not everyone likes rowing gears in their daily driver. Manual transmissions will probably be extinct in 10 years.

I think I'm about to get a 5.0, and I'm definitely getting a stick I'm a rare breed though.

I'd cross anything made by Chrysler or Hyundai off the list. I'd be leery of a used Brit car too. Buy a new car even if you have to finance above your $45k cash payment threshold.

Because old stereotypes that make people think all British cars (technically Indian now) and Chrysler vehicles will start shitting parts out the day you buy them.

I didn't say "impress me". I was talking about impressing the label watchers. But don't get me wrong, I'm in favor of paying more for quality.

I cannot even begin to guess how much I've blown on hunting and golf - many new cars I'm sure.
