I didn't read every page, so maybe this was already addressed, but did anybody else here the guy scream "Shoot me now, shoot me now motherfricker!" right before he climbs up on that ledge?

I don't understand how that's even relevant - if anything it should dissuade the cops from shooting to kill bc the kid was obviously not straight.

The mental capacity of someone has absolutely no bearing on anything in this type of situation.

No, they are scared of men who approach them aggressively with knives.

And whether cop or not, you never ever point a gun at someone unless you intend to kill them.

I'm not arguing whether or not this is an accepted truism amongst gun nuts, military types, and the cops.. but it shouldn't be. It's outdated and wrong

How many times have you been attacked with a knife?

I am no gun nut. I have never owned a gun, almost certainly never will, and I have only fired a gun on two occassions in my life. Both times were shotguns at a firing range where the targets were clay pigeons. To put it succinctly, I know little about guns and have no interest in them.

But to operate a firearm outside the bounds of the rule I stated is illogical. The rule is intended not to promote gun use but instead to inhibit it to situations where deadly force is required. If you follow the rule, many fewer people would die.

I'm going to guess he hasn't but if he was he already knows exactly how it would go down and how he would diffuse the situation with his bear hands because he isn't a pussy!

I kind of thought it was funny at first to be honest but obviously the trigger happy cops feared for their lives (which I think is beta as hell). If you don't think those cops overreacted then there's just nothing to talk about: you guys see things one way and I see things another. It's almost like conservative versus progressive.

Having watched both the store surveillance video and the cell phone video shot by the bystander, it's obvious that this guy was just trying to get attention and needed some serious mental healthcare. No sane shoplifter would do the things he did. Unfortunately, the police didn't have the benefit of observing his insane behavior during the five minutes before they arrived, all they know is that 15-20 seconds after they pulled up, some guy was charging them with a knife.

Having said this, I wonder if police departments have a procedure to follow when dealing with people whom they know are trying to commit suicide by cop.

He has a knife in his right hand and failed to oomply with commands.

Now granted, I don't know the situation

The assailant has a deadly weapon, it is a deadly force encounter.

..why did they not have tasers to use? Are these cops not issued them?

MANY do not ! The lefties and hate police crowd complain so much about tasers some departments and/or officers decide not to use them.

quote:

Are they trained to pull guns when it's a deadly weapon instead of the taser?

Yes, he can close that gap quickly, if you miss with the taser the knifes on you.

Once this video get's out, which it has, that entire area is going to explode.

You won't get shot if you don't approach the officers with a deadly weapon. You don't expect this crowd to understand this do you ? Their actions are expected.

What? That is ridiculous.

He is either a threat to the officers or he is not. He is no more or less a threat based on his sanity.

Stupid posts man.

This isn't true. If you approach officers with a deadly weapon, you will get shot. It does not follow that if you do not approach officers with the deadly weapon you won't get shot.

He never drank the sodas, he just placed them on the sidewalk unopened. If you watch the store video, you'll see that he took one soda right in front of a store employee, walked outside, placed it on the sidewalk, and started pacing back and forth in front of the store. After five minutes, the cops still hadn't showed up, so he went back in the store and took another soda, placed it on the sidewalk, and continued waiting for the cops and after a few more minutes they showed up.
