The ex-wife does triathalons... She has a $10K bike. Has two other bikes worth several thousand as well. They take this stuff very seriously. I don't get it, but I guess if you are going to do an Ironman, you want the best.

but if you wanted to compete in races you'd quickly realize that isn't going to cut it unless you like riding 49 miles out of a 50 mile race solo.

How is that thing better than the $45 per week "cruiser" I rented in Florida this past summer?
