It's just a means of classification.

Well that's something different, then. But perhaps forensic anthropologists should clarify that their classification system is not based on genetics.

Hey, most of you guys may think it's crazy, but it's what I believe

Honestly, I am in sort of awe of what you wrote.

quote:

and if you're a Christian who believes in the Bible, you'll understand why I feel this way.

I would venture than many christians who believe in the bible do not have any idea why you feel that way.

Do you also believe the earth is 6500 years old?

quote:

I mean, it makes sense to me.

I am in awe of this statement as well.

quote:

So call me crazy, down-vote this as much as y'all want, but it's what I believe and I feel it does explain a lot!

Except that it just doesn't make sense. There is science to prove that it is wrong. There is science to prove what happened.

Honestly I was going to wait till the end of this thread before writing anything, but Jesus man.

I don't downvote, but you are one willfully ignorant person who ignores all kinds of reality so that your literal belief in a 2000 year old book will not be threatened.

If we had been evolving for so long wouldn't there be a dominant race by now or at least much more uniformity?

This is the opposite of how evolution actually works. Evolution leads to a more complicated, diverse group of individuals across the global population which drives the survival of the species.

yet I am hung up on the fact that the longer we have gone the further the diversification. According to evolutionary theory should one or the other have a competitive advantage and win out?

I can now say with certainty, and I promise that I am in no way mocking your intelligence, that you do not understand what the Theory of Evolution means, and I encourage you to read more on the subject.

thetempleowl, science and religion have been battling each other for centuries, it's nothing new. Evolution vs. Creationism has been one of the main points of the ongoing battle. All I'm saying is that, to me, it's clear how humankind developed into the different races, and yes, I don't believe the earth is millions of years old, but thousands. Call me ignorant if you want, but that's what I believe.

So not to start a religion war. Three men repopulate the earth and yes makes sense in theory. BUT every heard of in breeding and the results of it?? I rest my case.

Please provide your actual evidence, excluding the Bible.

People are like cookies and the earth is like the oven but it's an old one so it doesn't cook evenly when God is baking.

I'm sure this was answered already. But there are only three anthropological races and they are caucasoid, negroid, and mongoloid. Latinos, Middle East, North African, Indians, are all ethnicities but generally have caucasoid features.

I'm sure someone has mentioned this but

It's due to geographical diversity which is evidence supporting natural selection

The honest and truest answer is about 2,014 years ago humans became prideful and tried to build a tower reaching to Heaven to be with God. God, who didn't see this one coming, decided to change all of their languages so they could no longer communicate. Somehow this disrupted their master plan of building a tower to reach upward.

Anyway, they scattered to different parts of the world and some were in the sun longer than others. Thus different races and languages.

Boom! Dropping some scientific and biblical knowledge. Well done. See, science and Christianity aren't opposed to one another and this post proves it. Glad that's resolved, next question please.
