Just got word that BJ may be joining my friend for an acoustic set at my bar on Sunday 
I hope he can make it. Then a bunch of people will come out and I can make a lot of money.

Just wanted to follow up on my experience last night at The Beatnik.
First off, American Aquarium was great, but I felt the set could've been longer. I also expect there to be a better vibe/energy at The Varsity on Friday (the band seemed to think so too.) Nola has a weird crowd and I understand that having gone to LSU and then Loyola Law. The only song I knew was "Burn Flicker Die." The stuff I heard from the upcoming album "Wolves" was good.
Opening acts were solid. Second act was a guy/girl duo similar to The Civil Wars. They did a cover of Kacey Musgraves' "The Trailer Song" and it sounded great.
The Beatnik itself is a cool place to chill and have a drink. They had a pretty decent local beer selection considering their limited space and having no taps. I had a Nola Hopitoulas and quite a few LA 31 pale ales. Crystal took good care of me at the bar. I was able to park really close.
The playlist before the show and between acts was some really good old country music.
All in all, great night. I'll be checking to see who is playing the Beatnik in the future. It's a new place that has nowhere to go but up. The staff has some really good ideas.

you coming to the BR show tomorrow? they have a bigger draw in BR. Should be a pretty good crowd with LSU about to kick back up.
